elisagomez25 I can't believe it's been 3 weeks already! Today was definitely a fight, "those days of the month", I only slept 2 hours last night, worked all day today , etc etc etc... But none of that stopped me from completing my 3rd week 2d

elisagomez25 If you are headed to a party and you have no control over the menu here are my tips:

1. Pre-Eat: Never rely on what is being provided and HOPE that it is clean! Most likely it won't be.
2. Choose small plates: Grab an appetizer plate and load up on veggies and fruit. Stay away from creamy dips and fried foods. The small plates will remind you to stay within your portion sizes. When you have bigger plates you tend to feel the need to fill it up!

3. If there is something there that looks delicious that you know is not on the plan, evaluate the situation. Is this what you want to splurge on? What else will you forgo instead? Will you stay away from all other chips and cookies so you can have cake? Will you stay away from Alcohol for chips? Your choice, but you can't have a bangin body and eat your cake too! The power is in your hands, how bad do you want it?

4. Drink lots of water: If you decide to have a few drinks, stay hydrated! Go with your low calorie options like vodka and soda water with a splash of lemon or lime.
5. Stay away from certain ingredients: Stay away from anything that is made with mayonnaise, cream cheese, sour cream or heavy cream and milk. Lots of unwanted calories and fat hidden in there! It doesn't make a difference if it's low fat cream cheese, light sour cream or mayo it's still not a good option. To clean up a recipe with those ingredients try Greek yogurt! Most people can't tell the difference between sour cream and Greek Yogurt!! Last but not least, have a blast and enjoy! I don't understand the game but my bf and princess said we are rooting for the Patriots, so Go Patriots.

So what is so good about quinoa?

Quinoa is very unique in that it is not only seriously packed full of vitamins and minerals, but it is one of the few sources of ‘complete protein’. Being a complete protein means that quinoa contains all of the amino acids that we cannot actually produce in our body ourselves (these are known as the ‘essential’ amino acids). Quinoa also contains no gluten (perfect for coeliacs or those with gluten intolerance), and is often grown free from chemicals as the plant itself produces a natural insecticide called ‘saponin’. Saponin is what can give quinoa it’s bitter taste, but can be easily removed if the quinoa is soaked, and rinsed well, before use.

Some of the nutrients that quinoa contains include: iron (carries oxygen around the body to produce energy), magnesium (required for the function and growth of all cells), manganese and calcium (bone and nerve health) as well as folate (component of DNA). This amazing seed also contains both types of fibre, keeping our gastrointestinal tract happy and fully functioning.

As an ingredient, quinoa is extremely versatile. It can be used in place of rice or cous cous, and is absolutely to-die-for in sweet applications (see our recipes below). How to cook quinoa? “How to cook quinoa” is a question we get asked on a regular basis. There is a real art to cooking quinoa, and with a little practice, it is certainly not a hard task to master. In this short tutorial, our leading lady Lorna Jane Clarkson takes you through the steps on cooking a fluffy batch of quinoa.

What you’ll need:

Measuring Cup
Saucepan
Wooden Spoon
Strainer

Cooking Steps: • Measure desired amount of quinoa. • Rinse always. • Cook quinoa using twice the amount of liquid i.e. 1 cup of quinoa, 2 cups of water. • Bring to boil in pot, then reduce to simmer with lid on. • After 15 minutes or so after all the water has absorbed and quinoa is tender (do not stir too much at this point), turn off the heat and cover pot with a clean, dry tea towel. • Snap the lid back on and cover with the tea towel. • Let sit for another 10-15 minutes. The tea towel absorbs

elisagomez25 Dont forget you're on YOUR OWN unique journey - it's not about what anyone else is doing or what results we perceive they're getting! You're changing at the rate that is right for YOU and your own body. AVOID the trap of comparing yourself to others, it will only cause you to make choices that will derail you from your progress and put you back in that yo yo cycle that never actually creates the results you were after in the first place.

A year ago I would see other friends/women's fitness progress pictures, and I'd actually feel BAD about myself that "I" wasn't at THEIR level...Never compare, I've learned...And another pointer: I've learned that right before my menses, it's OK to obtain belly bloat and water weight..Right after my period it goes away..So no use in driving myself crazy wondering why the hell does my stomach all of a sudden look like I'm 2 months pregnant right before my period..I just keep working out thru it all and it all goes back to normal once it's over! 5d
