  •   toriadele @ekwetzel hey girl! Do you have your IG art account anymore? You might not...I just hadn't seen stuff for awhile and I've been missing it! :) 23h
  •   molyn06 This picture defines childhood <3 23h
  •   ekwetzel @toriadele hi!!! I deleted the @by_ekwetzel account for a few reasons. When I started it, I didn't have a portfolio on my website, but now I do! Also, It was hard to keep the IG account updated & engage with people in a timely manner. So I simplified & am basically just using this one. :) I'll update the link in my profile to my blog again. There's a portfolio page there. And, If you want to stay abreast art updates, you can sign up for email updates on my blog. But I'll also include my art here, as I have new work to share. Maybe I should hashtag it my art. What do you think?? 19h
  •   toriadele I will totally try to remember to sign up for the email updates via your blog during naptime!! :) I was hoping I didn't lose the beauty of your stuff in my IG but I completely understand what you're saying!! A hashtag would be saweeeeet! Like #byekwetzel or something? 19h

ekwetzel Kitchen Decluttering is in full swing over here! ^_^ I considered selling this stuff, but the thought of pricing & packaging everything just stresses me out. So...local clothing bank it is! 2d
  •   scooterko_ I'm doing the same! I considered a garage sale and even that sounded stressful to me! I just chalk it up to a good donation 'cause I send it off to the local Christian school's resale shoppe 2d
  •   simplysaric Yes! The relief and freedom that comes from an instant removal is priceless. 2d
  •   deena_bean me toooooo!!! must be in the air. no mo junk! but hoping the place we donated to likes it haha :) 2d

  •   mrswolma ha! @ekwetzel - i don't know... i feel like i'm teetering between rockstar and psychotic. I feel like i'm suffocating in stuff... I'm getting rid of far more than I originally anticipated and I'm not looking back. hope you're getting through all of yours... it's such a long and messy process! 1d

ekwetzel I simplify, not because the things I let go of hold no value. No. I prune my life of good things so that my priorities can flourish. || The clutter has been creeping in again. I've become an accidental hoarder. I'm afraid to let things go...but at what cost? || 5 years ago, we had thousands of books. Then we sold them all, and only our cherished ones remain. Our books now fit in 6 wooden boxes near our living room ceiling. When I look at them, all I see is our best. || I want the rest of my home to be like this. Whoa Nelly...time to get to work. 2d
  •   alpinebabyco Wow, I love this. 2d
  •   ekwetzel Caveat: Our adult books fit in 6 boxes. This doesn't include children's books (we have 1 box & 1 small shelf for these) or my dozen cookbooks (which live in the kitchen). 2d
  •   joyefuljourney 2d
  •   bryiarrose yes yes yes. and some good stuff on that shelf. 2d
  •   ma20166 I have 3 kids and love thrifting, kids books being my favorite. I'm working on not buying every one I see and doing more trips to the library. Love that it's free and I feel like my kids are more responsible with the books knowing they are borrowed. @ekwetzel 2d

ekwetzel #PSA ^_^ Dropping some knowledge on y'all because it helped me out so much!! || I get acid reflux. A lot. A friend recommended I soak my grains before cooking with them, and it totally solves the problem! So today I'm frying up pancakes-from-a-jar that soaked the past few days in the fridge. || Phytic acid is a protecting coating on grains, nuts, seeds and beans. My stomach can't handle processing it, so I get acid reflux. But if I soak (8-24 hrs), sour (as in "sourdough") or sprout these foods, it eliminates the phytic acid. || Thank goodness! Pass the pancakes!! @rchrispy 4d
  •   ekwetzel @hleacy I don't grind my own flour. :) I just soak the flour. If I had a mill attachment, I would look into the logistics if sprouting my grains. As it is, we don't eat much flour anyways, so I just store a bag in the freezer. Lol 4d
  •   ekwetzel @kneukomm I love this lil thing! 4d
  •   sherrimerickson I also just heard about soaking nuts & grains. Very good for digestion even for those who don't get acid reflux. 4d
  •   butterflysnbees I've heard about the soaking but didn't know you could soak the flour too? So how does this work? If I am using 2 cups flour I then add water to cover and drain it the next day? Doesn't this ruin it by messing with the gluten/texture or whatever? 3d
  •   ekwetzel So... With this recipe, soaking works bc I'm making pancakes. So I mix the milk & egg with the flour & just wait to mix the other ingredients in until the day of. @butterflysnbees 3d
  •   hleacy That's so cool! Totally didn't know it was possible! 3d
  •   foxandwagon I suppose this cuts down on time mixing too? I'd like to try pancakes in a jar. Let's talk Wed. 1d

  •   heatherbee1083 You know, one of my favorite homemade meatball recipes calls for grape jelly. So if you wind up with grape jelly coming out your ears there's always the option of cooking with it! 5d

ekwetzel You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things. ("Wild Geese" by Mary Oliver)
