Right now I'm hitting these macro percentages on 1650 calories 5 days a week: 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fat. Being #18weeksout, on the other 2 days I don't count macros or calories , but stay clean except for my 2 approved cheat meals. This will change as I get closer. That carb % sounds high to my non vegan competitor friends, but right now I'm still get results with it so I'll stick with it. This plan is also about twice the protein I was eating before. It was so easy before, which was surprising unto itself. I wasn't hungry, I was just mourning an F-it behavior. dizzlerivera As I continue to train and research more about bikini competitions, I'm reminded that it's complicated to be a woman. I see there's a lot of judgment -- self and otherwise - around the sport. The sheepish justifying that this even is a sport, for starters. Frankly, I've never trained harder for any other sport. The performance element of this sport is RIGHT NOW, in the prep, and the stage competition is solely a celebration of all the work and time. The more complicated issue is the judgement of "parading around half naked." As women we are told that we shouldn't do many things -- we're told this by many different camps. Most seem to feel that a woman confident in her aesthetics is surely doing it to get something, or it's for someone else. I'm not saying this isn't often true, but it seems outlandish that women would want to strut for ourselves, to show off because we like it. This backs the notion that we dare to enjoy our sexuality and our looks, and this seems the most uncomfortable area. We still don't seem to be allowed this, even by forward thinkers -- or even ourselves. Friends, I'm claiming my strut. I'm going to enjoy it, too. It's fun. It's powerful. dizzlerivera Just got these in so I could practice. I will say I think the heels are a silly element to the bikini competition. That said I don't mind these too much because 1. I bought a lower heel than what seems the norm 2. These feel very similar to my old salsa dancing shoes, which I WORE THE HELL OUT back in the day, so I don't feel out of place in them 3. dizzlerivera 6 weeks into my #veganbikinicompetitor journey #progresspictures. For stat junkies: 4lbs down, 4.5" off waist and hips. This process takes a lot of self patience and self love. One of my written goals at the beginning of all of this was to love my body in the moment, wherever I was. I feel great about the slow and steady progress. To all my sisters out there I can't urge you enough to love it all right now. If you're on the road for more strength and fitness, awesome. But love what you have right now. Your body takes care of you. There is no happiness or progress in loathing or self bashing. If you have to fake it till you make it, do that. The more you say "I love and accept you right now" the better.
