deliacreates Our caterpillars hatched! We had thirteen chrysalides and all thirteen survived into butterflies. They all zoomed off when we released them, except for a couple who lingered on our fingers to say goodbye. ️ This caterpillar parenting is fun stuff. 3d

deliacreates "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted." -Aesop...As I was walking around the Seattle Center, a homeless woman dropped her yoga mat. I leaned down to help pick it up but she said she had it. She almost kept walking, but then turned back and said that most people hardly notice her, much less try to help her when she's in need. She rummaged through her belongings, handed me a fistful of candy, and wished me a good day. I was stunned, barely stuttering out that it was nothing and thank you (I mean what did I do, really?), before she was off and turning a corner. This woman, whose whole life fit in a baby stroller, who probably slept on that yoga mat, generously offered me what little she had to show her appreciation for simply noticing her. She didn't beg me for money. She didn't act bitter about her situation. I felt so humbled, as if I was the one wearing rags, spiritual rags, as I tucked her meager yet magnanimous offering into my pockets. Feeling the eternal weight of their value weigh heavier than the phone and the car keys resting next to them. She may be poor in the eyes of the world, but I have been made richer by that brief moment with her. 6d

deliacreates Got lost in the parking garage on my way home from the #SproutbyHP event (so classic me) and stumbled on this amazing rooftop garden hidden on the top of the garage. It had this sweeeeet view of the Space Needle. Seriously, #seattle is so freaking cool!...if you don't mind the traffic. 6d
  •   smallfriendly When I lived in Seattle we could see the space needle from our living room window, I miss that place. 6d
  •   crochetbychineka Live in Washington as well close to Seattle. You will love the beautiful nature and culture. There is nothing like it! 5d

deliacreates Gathering greens for tonight's salad and making a note to add cilantro to our garden next year. 🏼#gardenfresh 1w
  •   sewinglikemad Our cilantro just died. No idea why but I read from others they are tricky. Let me know if you figure it out :-) 1w
  •   livefreemiranda @sewinglikemad @deliacreates I think cilantro is a summer herb--from what I understand (that may be wrong🏽) it dies in the fall, drops seed, and comes back in the spring fresh? Mine grew great, just died and seeded, so I have fingers crossed for next year! 1w
  •   livefreemiranda @sewinglikemad @deliacreates by summer I mean springs and fall (thanks, google!) it likes cooler weather and goes to seed when it gets too hot. Might be a good time to replant some right now! Or in a month here in TX, since it's still 100 degrees 1w
  •   sewinglikemad @livefreemiranda oh thanks! Yeah we are in NC so still HOT here too. 1w
  •   deliacreates @livefreemiranda ooh thanks! Maybe it's not too late to keep a start for a while. 1w
  •   jennalouodegard We forgot the cilantro too this year. Boo 1w
  •   nicwoo72 I read in sunset magazine once that it just has a short life, you could totally plant some now and is very easy from seed, keep seeds moist and sunny then reseed every few weeks (tho I'm never that organized!) and you'll always have some during our extended growing season. It likes to be warm. Just replant regularly/the tastiest "weed" you can grow!!! Love our raised beds too. 1w
  •   deliacreates Thank you @nicwoo72. I'll try that! 1w

deliacreates The fruits of our first U-pick flower farm trip (!!!! 🏼🏻)and a peek at our veeeery slow kitchen progress. I'm thinking I need to read up on how to arrange Dahlias and go with a plan next time. My method this time was "oh that's pretty!... (Snip)" 3w
  •   livefreemiranda All so pretty! 3w
  •   chelsjlarsen I want to go with you next time :) 3w
  •   deliacreates I would love that @chelsjlarsen ! 3w
  •   bacidare Why? Is not the method? (snip snip snip ...oh! There! snip!!) ;-) in a place like that, I'd just need to try to remember to actually leave some flowers behind me... Just not to come back with a truckload...! 3w
  •   deliacreates @bacidare haha. I was the opposite. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices I think I picked too few. Definitely not doing that next time! 3w

deliacreates Only halfway done and already losing steam. 😑🏻🏼 3w
  •   msmelis Press on! I sanded and painted my whole kitchen last summer. Such an ordeal, but it's beautiful now! 3w
  •   pickydoodeb I'm using @bbfrosch, too! It's been great, but I have tried the wax on top, and unfortunately, it isn't as smooth and shiny as I'd like. Maybe I should try a polycrylic sealer, too? What brand are you using? Yours look really good so far! I can't wait to see it when it's all done. Your dishes are so pretty, too. Good luck with it all! I know when I'm done, I'm going to want to paint the walls, get a new sink and faucet, new lighting, backsplash, countertops... 3w
  •   lindsaylwilcox If you haven't tried a wood filler, I highly recommend that! We're painting our ugly oak cabinets white, and that has worked wonders. 3w
  •   deliacreates I haven't. Oh bummer! Wish I knew that before I started. I'm just rocking the subtle grain. @lindsaylwilcox 3w
  •   deliacreates @pickydoodeb haha. I can relate! And thanks. It's really far from perfect though. I decided not to stress about sanding out wood grain...still not sure if that's a mistake... And the white I chose is a bit too yellow for my liking. Wha wha... Ha. Overall, we are stoked to be getting rid of the honey oak but I'm learning lots really fast! as for the wax. I finished one cabinet with wax and felt uneasy about it. So I lightly sanded it all over, added another coat of paint, and then added the polyacrylic instead. It's minwax crystal clear in satin. I feel much better about it. Good luck with your kitchen and the rest of your projects ! 3w
  •   pickydoodeb @deliacreates thanks for all of the info! It's going to be great. I'm so glad you are liking your new house and the PNW. We miss you here in Springville! 3w
