delaneygates The #NodToNotions images this week were so lovely. Thank you ever so much for sharing your treasures with us in such an artful way, ladies! Everyone has such a different style-- some were dreamy and light, others were a little more rustic and darker. I love how we can all take generally the same types of props and create images with such different tones. This week, please join me in recognizing:

delaneygates TGIF! This would have been a photo of the first white poppy I had ever held in my hands, however it disintegrated the very moment I picked it up! I couldn't believe my eyes. Boo! I was determined to get a shot of the lovely petals on principle alone ("Oh no you don't, you WILL be in this photo!"), so here they are, tucked behind a sea shell. Ha! 7d

delaneygates Can I admit something? I was scared that no one would want to participate in the first #NodToNotions challenge we had yesterday. But, I thought that since I love notions, perhaps others do, too. I feel like we love what we love for a reason, and somehow it all ties into our purpose and our path to who we are meant to be in the grand scheme of things. Worst case scenario, I would have tried something I loved and failed, and while a little embarrassing, it takes courage to try and that in and of itself is a victory. (Highly recommend @brenebrown's book "Daring Greatly", by the way. Actually, all of her books have changed my life.) Anyway, my heart was SO full last night to see all of the beautiful notions in the gallery and I was really encouraged by everyone else who loves those kind of things, too. So, bless y'all and thank you for playing along! I look forward to next Tuesday already and I will post a few of my faves later today. 1w

delaneygates This bloom was just one of many on a stalk which @theweswillard gave me for Mother's Day. I had never seen anything like all of them together-- so sculptural and beautiful. Also, all of your #NodToNotions entries are incredible! There's still lots of time left to join in if you haven't already and would like to. Have a happy rest of your day! (Oh, and #capturingcolour is a week of arrangements, if you care to join in that, as well!) 1w

delaneygates I have been looking forward to this day for awhile! It's the very first #NodToNotions Tuesday! If you'd like to play along, add our hashtag and @delaneygates in your caption AND feel free to tell a bit about the history of your treasures, if you'd like! The pattern and some of the spools are from my fiancé's grandmother, the pins and button card are from an antiquing adventure, and the gorgeous flowers are my greatest farmers' market find ever from over the weekend. Although, why did no one tell me they fell apart so easily?! Oh, my word! The pink one had already started to shed petals at this point so I have it tucked into a spool to hold it up straight. Poppy tips are appreciated! Have a lovely day and I look forward to seeing your notions! 1w

delaneygates I have TWO things I'm pretty excited to share! The first, is that I'm hosting a new challenge each Tuesday called #nodtonotions which will include any photo with spools (or cotton reels, as they are called across the pond!), buttons, thread, scissors, trims, pins, embroidery floss, ribbons, or anything of that nature. The second thing, is that the IG Challenge and Hashtag List I compiled is DONE!! Check out the direct link on my profile to view more info. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday! 2w

delaneygates Thank you for the messages and comments about your favorite IG challenges for the challenge list I'm working on. I hope to have it posted today or tomorrow. There's one last chance to comment here (or send me a message, as some of you did) with your favorite challenges you participate in. There are lots of new ones lately, including one I'll be sharing, too! (I'll give you one guess what my little challenge will focus on... Ha!) 2w

delaneygates At times in the creative process of forming a new endeavor, I drift back and forth between waiting until the moment is just right, and beginning right away in order to evolve into something that feels right. The former can be crippling at times, but I'm such a planner that it's hard to jump into something which isn't totally ready. Though, if I wait until the right moment, it would probably never come. I know this. Still, I can't help but think, if I cannot find time to fold laundry every day, what business do I have to add something new to my life?! Ha! What are your thoughts? 2w
  •   delaneygates @rebekahsattic Ha! I suppose so. 2w
  •   delaneygates @sew_simone Ah, I totally am in the same place! Sometimes I intend to do something, and life just gets in the way. Or, it's a LOT more complicated than I anticipate. I suppose the twists and turns teach us lessons, though. But for goodness sake, think of all of the times the greatest CEOs, scientists and bestselling authors have failed before succeeding-- don't let that stop you! We might fail at things, but that brings us one step closer to succeeding. (Preaching to myself here, too!) 2w
  •   sarahnotes So pretty, thanks for joining in! 2w
  •   sew_simone Thanks @delaneygates its really comforting to know others are in the same place. On my brave & bold days I think "what have you got to loose" 2w
  •   sarahnotes You described me to a tee! Being an OCD planner is very therapeutic, lol but can lead to planning and no results! Add to this my inner couch potato who longs to constantly just read and do nothing. Getting anything and everything done is very hard sometimes but I feel good knowing I've done a little something creative everyday which is better than What I managed in previous years. So I'm trying that for a while and hope that will prepare me for a new endeavour at some point. Pushing too hard against ones own nature can also be counter productive. Thanks for starting this conversation, it's very interesting to hear what people have to say! 2w
  •   annld60 Congratulations 2w

delaneygates I'm not sure if I like this one. The #filltheframe style isn't really me, but I think all of the texture is really fun-- almost a feast for the eyes, if you will. I might delete it and I might not, I haven't decided! Lol! I have done that a couple times in the past after I post an image and later decide that it doesn't really match the rest of my feed. That's probably crazy. Have y'all ever done that? Anyway, I'm at the point where I should either A) go right to sleep at a decent hour or B) grab a cup or two of coffee, get inspired, and create/write/plan/dream. Decisions, decisions. Happy creating, wherever you are. 2w
