dawndilion The Blue Herons are back. They had not nested at #Marymoor in 20 years, and this marks the 3rd year in a row they have came back. Every nest had a bird in it, most likely rebuilding them for the baby’s that will began hatching in May. I love wildlife and the promise of new life. 5d

dawndilion Zoey loves her #pawpack goodies. This months theme appears to be dental health. One of my favorite's, along with nail health, keeping them trimmed a nice short length. Ironically #zoeydog12 needs to have an incisor pulled on the 9th. She got sick in her crate (both ends), chipped a few teeth and broke one below the gum line trying to get out of her crate and away from the icky. She is okay, body needed to purge something & it apparently worked. I brush her teeth at least 6 days a week to try and avoid cleanings and anesthesia, and she goes and breaks a tooth. 6d

dawndilion Zoey's favorite toys. Aside from the Happy Moppy tug toy and her 1st toy ever (the red Santa dog), they are all animals and a mammal that fly (ok maybe not chickens) and balls. I'm convinced - she was a retriever in a past doggie life. #zoeydog12 2w
  •   spinksthedog I wonder if they know that the toys resemble animals and mammals that fly? Hmmmm... 1w

dawndilion I love this photo of Rocky. We we were almost home from a road trip to Montana & he had twisted up his "seatbelt" something fierce. Love the composition, the look on his face & his beautiful wonky ear. I could tear up if think to much about how dear he was to me. Whoopsie, there we go, got a little misty eyed. #throwbackthursday to when he was cancer free & the love of my life. #rockydog96 3w

dawndilion #zoeydog12 's titer test results are good, she has the right amount of antibodies! Yippee - skipping her 3 year booster. Can't titer for rabies in the state of Washington, so she will have to get another rabies vaccine in 2017. I'll titer test her every 3 years to ensure those antibodies are still going strong. Highly recommend titer testing to avoid unnecessary vaccines 4w
  •   dawndilion @memphis_walks_into_a_bar I am sure you tried Benadryl shots before vaccinating - heard that can help. 3w
  •   dawndilion @carbonxxkidd I think quite a few vets still say titer's are worthless & for just the reason you mentioned. My vet had the option, but only tested for two. I can't remember which, but the holistic vet I went to tested Distemper, Hepatitis & Parvo. The test is good for 3-5 yrs. Zoey had her puppy shots & 1st round of adult shots Jan of 2014. So, I'll test again in 2 years since I didn't do it last spring after her adult vaccine. That whole Lepto thing pisses me off. My vet recommends every year too & it's most likely not even effective. Rabies are mandatory in Washington state - she is due for that in 2017. The good thing, more and more vets, at least in the Seattle area, will do titer testing. 3w
  •   memphis_the_ratscallion @dawndilion yes we have used Benadryl shots~ last booster she separated the shots (rather them combo like previously) and did them 3 separate locations on his body this did help some with the swelling and pain but it's always a tense 48 hours ~ so she and I are researching and will discuss all options thanks for information 3w
  •   carbonxxkidd Rabies is mandatory here too. I'm going to have to call around about titers...I have already stopped doing Lyme and bordetella shots...would really like to stop everything! 3w
  •   thewilddingoes Talking not knowing what you are talking about. One of my degrees is in infectious disease and I have advanced education in immunology. In addition to this I perform advanced laboratory testing on humans AND animals. None of this urinalysis out of box crap you were misinterpreting a few months ago. Guess what I did just last night? I diagnosed a feline leukemia from a blood smear. I am VERY educated in this subject and perform titers for three different viral antigens every day. I know about vaccine efficacy, long and short term immunity, and how vaccines are developed and formulated. Yes, leptospirosis is uncommon in Washington, but it can be found in warmer bodies of fresh water. Don't ever accuse me of having my head buried in the sand, I have the qualifications to teach immunology and infectious disease to ignorant people, like yourself, who "read an article on the interwebz". My oldest dog is nearly ten years old now and is in EXCELLENT health, so is his younger brother. Enjoy your holistic "veterinarian" and your urinalysis in a box tests..... 3w
  •   dawndilion @thewilddingoes Then you know, since you are so educated - if titer test show immunity, why vaccinate? I am not anti vaccine, I am anti over vaccinating. My last dog was super healthy & got cancer at 12. Many things contribute to this, but over vaccinating could have been a factor. I'll stress could have, so could have new carpet & paint etc. I am getting hardwoods vs new carpet this year, will paint with less harmful paint & feed only organic raw food to my dog. If her titers stay high, no vaccines. If they are low, 100% she will be vaccinated. So before you start shaming me for the choices I make for MY pet - be prepared for a defensive retort. I do what I feel is best for my animals, you do the same. I have never been a fan of negative posts anywhere, as was your 1st comment. So in the most sincere and polite way possible - kiss my butt & please, yes - unfollow me. 3w
  •   dawndilion @memphis_walks_into_a_bar it's so stressful when our pets have reactions. Rocky had adverse reactions to the last two rabies vaccines he had. Poor guy was sick for 2 days, with a fever. I would give him baby aspirin & watch over him till his fever broke. 3w
  •   dawndilion @carbonxxkidd they don't even do Lyme here, at least my vet hasn't recommend it in a long time. I do recall Rocky getting it once when he was very young. I don't do bordetella either. They have a pill now, used to do nasal, but it's basically like a cold if they got it. Nothing deadly. Lymes bothers me a bit since we have ticks here. I've seen them on squirrels, which is common. There are raw Amber stone necklace type collars you can buy that repel ticks. Also a tick & flea natural spray by Wondercide (Evolv). I'll test titers every 2-3 yrs and if low, I'll have her vaccinated. 3w

  •   rdg_7 Congrats! Awesome win! I always liked Seattle. But, living in CT, my team playing like crapola (I am originally from NY and a Giants fan), and seeing my other half is from MA, I will root for the Pats if they get in. If not, it's Hawks all the way! 2mon
