davidavila26 Moving forward is the only way we can travel. Each moment passes us by is a moment we can't get back. Every second is gone only to never be repeated again. Unlike a movie, our lives are filled with different experiences. Each one unique in its own right.
Don't let your own existance pass you by. Move forward with purpose and don't let what once was prevent you from what will be.
When I found out about my hearing loss, I was devastated. I couldn't return to the Marine Corps like I wanted. I had lost a sense of purpose. I fell into a depression and longed to restore the life I once knew. It's been several years but I still feel that pain of not returning. I have learned to move forward past this obstacle and embrace life as is. I'm excited about the future now. All of the good and bad things, because life will keep moving forward. Humans come and go, experience triumph and failure, feel love and hate. Yet despite what the individual feels, life moves forward. So should we.

davidavila26 Nearly every problem we encounter in life will have a resolution. Sometimes it's obvious. Other times, it seems like an impossible puzzle to solve. Regardless, there is a solution that can be found once all the right pieces are in place. Taking a step back is needed at times to get a clear picture and be able to better asses a situation. Take it all in and leave no details out, no matter how bad or painful it may seem. We will all reach crossroads in our lives in which we will have to make tough decisions. Embrace these moments as a part of life that we must all endure from time to time. It's what makes life beautiful. We will face difficult moments we must embrace to truly appreciate those other moments that are good. How else can we truly enjoy bliss if we don't know the meaning of pain? Earn it. 1mon

davidavila26 Extremely hard working group of athletes here I had the honor of training today. They came from all over the world with various fitness levels to partake in CT Fletcher's #Massterplan. They've already been putting in some serious training over the last three days with @isymfs, @mikerashid, @robdidit32 and various other trainers at @metroflexlbx . Today I was invited to help instruct the endurance training aspect with @manbehindmetroflex. We pushed them hard and they all pushed back harder to fight back and finish. After that they finished the day with some powerlifting training with the ver talented and knowledgeable @colemanstrengthtraining, #lizfreel , @buloajp , and @jonflexin.
Amazing experience and thank you for letting me be part of this event. I seriously never take for granted the opportunity I have to train at #metroflexlbc with an outstanding group of motivated and talented athletes. To everyone who is doing the Massterplan, congrats on all of your accomplishments and keep the motivation high! You will go back to your gyms with a positive paradigm shift towards training and will accomplish and surpass any goals you set forth.

davidavila26 Doing some sled work for back today. Alternating arm sled pulls and return with a forward run pulling the sled. It's a great way to combine strength and speed. This sled was 205lbs. Great way to train for a multitude of obstacles at the Spartan Race. If you have any training questions for obstacle course running or just general fitness, please send me a message.

davidavila26 From Marine Green to Corporate blue. And whatever color being an independent trainer is. I love my jobs. Working with small business's during the day to improve their bottom line through digital advertising is pretty a rewarding internal feeling. Then the button ups come off and the PT gear comes on to train individual clients to meet their fitness goals. I love seeing clients break out of their comfort zobe and challenge themselves to reach new heights. They truly motivate me to push further and achieve my own fitness goals. 2mon

davidavila26 Who lit this flame within us? That wich burns invisibly bright. It's like waking up to cerulean skies everyday and seeing clarity for the first time. Clarity is vital. Confusion is always around us and reaching clarity will not be easy. There will be mistakes, lessons learned, and behaviors changed for the better.
We all mistakes. It's what makes us human. The capacity to make decisions and be wrong is important. It teaches is lessons and truly makes us appreciate when we are right. Acknowledging that mistake is critical. We must be willling to shift our paradigm when mistakes are made. I've made plenty. I still do. But I learn from them. Grow from them and change accordingly. Because when you know what you truly want, you will adapt and overcome. No one ever said it was going to be easy. Hell, I dont think it should. If it was, it wouldn't be worth it. But when you know it is, you will fight. You will make mistakes and blunders but you pick up and move forward.
My words will truly speak when actions are set to purpose. When I tell you something. I mean it. My mind and heart are set to purpose. It wasn't always like that. It took the right time and series of events to get to where I am. I chose to be here despite the odds because it's easy to move forward when you truly believe in the future. It's easy to proceed when vision is clear.

davidavila26 3 years, 3 races. I've owned this original Metroflex Gym, Long Beach shirt for the past 3 years. It is part of the first series of shirts released when the gym first opened. I've worn it for all 3 Spartan Races; The Sprint, The Super, and The Beast. I'm proud to hang this shirt up on our wall of shirts on the gyms 3rd year anniversary. #metroflexlbc 2mon

davidavila26 At the end of the Spartan Beast in Monterey, CA. This race broke me. Not embarrased to admit that, but very dissapointed and upset at my performance. My cardio was good, my mind was set to purpose, and I completed 24/26 obstacles. I failed the spear throw and cargo net swing. What really got me were the leg cramps. Easily the hardest obstacles. Twice my leg seized up and I collapsed on the ground. Once while going up hill after the first barbed wire crawl and the second one on the high wall. I fell off the wall and didn't even feel the impact due to pain in my leg. One of the volunteers helped me pull the cramp out and that pain was ridiculous. Worst part was that I fell on the wrong side so I had to do it again haha!
By that point, I knew my time was going to suck and I just wanted to finish the race. I refused aid because I didn't want to get pulled off the course for something so petty. I needed to finish the race and I did. Horrible time but I take some comfort in my stubborness to actually finish the course. I was determined to whether I was going to be running, walking, or crawling.
Though I am very dissapointed in myself, it was a a very humbling experience and definitely something to learn from. I am not sure how I will modify my training, but I know it needs to get harder. I will definitely be repeating this race again next year!

Thank you to everyone on the course who stopped and asked if I was ok or needed help. I genuinely appreciate that. From the guy who told me he gives me more credit than Lebron, to the girl who gave me some salt packets, the other guy who gave me some salt tablets, and everyone who just said something encouraging or offered some assistance. This is what makes the Spartan community so great. Thank you!

Huge shoutout to @manbehindmetroflex for the continued support and motivation. We got a lot of work ahead.

davidavila26 Strong man training with @manbehindmetroflex and @benji_310. Basically, pick heavy shit up, move it, and then put it back down. Very taxing on the body and a few minutes of raw strength and powered. Yolk (cut off due to length), tire farmers carry ( ~450 lbs), tire flips (~800 lbs), keg carry (unknown weight), and prowler push (~625 lbs). Move each piece about 15m and back for time. Multiple rounds with the goal of doing better each round. Great training to build up your strength and integrates well into a variety of sports and overall fitness. 2 weeks out from the Spartan Beast. Ready to do this! 3mon

davidavila26 An ab strengthening workout I picked up from @manbehindmetroflex. Grab a Kettlebell, this one was only 26 lbs, and perform these 3 exercises back to back. Start with 20 twists, 10 single arm GHD situps, finish with 10 full GHD situps. For an extra challenge, try to keep the kettle bell above your head on that last section. Hurts. I like to do these at the very end of a full workout. Prior to this I had done deadlifts and a full back workout. Did this 4 rounds with minimal rest in between. 3mon
