crazydervish There has never been a more or thrilling medium for playing music than a long playing twelve inch disc. We PLAY records. The process of carefully slipping the disc out of the sleeve, cleaning it and lowering the stylus provides a personal involvement in the reproduction of the music. We enjoy a tangible relationship with the music in the grooves of a record. There is an emotional connection to the artifact carrying the sound. Discard your compressed files and come back to life. 20h
  •   nicolas_boo This ia very true. And one more reason to play vinyls. Can't wait to get myself a PONO though... 20h
  •   crazydervish @nicolas_boo I like the PONO idea. Portable quality . I too will get one and travel the seven seas with you in the comfort of knowing music compression will be banished from our ears. 20h

  •   d_ross_a What an album to accompany such awesome sentiment. Long live The Cure. 20h

crazydervish Leave the big houses for the flash people. Leclapart's L'apotre reminds you that sometimes it’s better to feel it than to try to own it.” 2d

crazydervish Maxwell food center holds two chicken rice stalls that many consider to be among the best in Singapore - Tian Tian and Ah Tai. The latter having worked twenty years for the former before branching out on his own, just a couple of stalls down from his mentor after an infamous dispute saw them part ways. Chicken rice on steroids is my best way to describe these two very similar stalls. Fixed my chicken rice craving at Ah Tai yesterday with his signature plump and succulent chicken drizzled...wait..doused with a beckoning chicken stock/soy sauce gravy, oily fluffy rice, a tangy chili sauce that uses lime instead of traditional vinegar, a viscous dark soy sauce that resembles the blob, albeit, a tasty blob and a side plate of crunchy bean sprouts with sliced red chili. It's a very 'in your face' take on a beloved Singaporean institution. I think I mean that as compliment. Really. 2d

  •   chef_zeppelin I visited both these on my travels a week ago, Maxwell is unreal. Banging HCR at the break away . No ginger condiment? 2d
  •   crazydervish @chef_zeppelin not sure why I never bother with the ginger condiment. I think as a child I found the color unappealing and the habit of not including it followed me into adulthood. 2d
  •   chef_zeppelin Each to their own brother, I love it with the garlicky rice. 2d
  •   pandalicious05 @crazydervish u always hv the rite word to say ! Just love when u wrote "drizzled...wait doused with..." Lol 2d
  •   crazydervish @pandalicious05 haha. Thanks for the kind words. Food lovers always understand each other 2d

crazydervish I might be a little biased but Izy is currently having some delicious deep fried sardines from Hokkaido with an irresistible sancho ( Japanese pepper) dipping sauce. It's silver fish season so get as oily as you can now. 2d

crazydervish Have admittedly been on a Sarawak laksa roll lately. With good fortune, I got to taste a homemade beaut from the hallowed kitchen of @kowfuu who churned out another stunning umami monster. 3d

crazydervish Dabai, also known as “Sibu olive” (though technically not an olive) is grown only in Sarawak, in the Sibu and Kapit areas more so. A friend brought them back last night. Seems the best way is to eat then boiled. Steeping them in barely boiling hot water until they soften, then drizzling on some dark soy sauce and sugar. The flesh is as creamy as an avocado, but the taste is unique with a slight tanginess. Mingled with the delicious dark soy flavors, it's annoyingly addictive. 4d

Normal Aman Khan
crazydervish The boy with the thorn in his side
Behind the hatred there lies
A murderous desire for love. How good were the Smiths? An overdue re listening to 'The Queen is dead' was a timely reminder that they could get more poetry into a mere title than most bands get into a whole lyric sheet. The songs sound as good today as they did when I was 12. Strange, funny, ironic and gleefully sad.

crazydervish Is it wrong, wanting to be at home with your record collection? It’s not like collecting records is like collecting stamps, or beermats, or antique thimbles. There’s a whole world in here, a nicer, dirtier, more violent, more peaceful, more colorful, sleazier, more dangerous, more loving world than the world I live in; there is history, and geography, and poetry, and countless other things I should have studied at school, including music. 7d

crazydervish Was itching to use my Kyoto rice bowl. Forced me into the kitchen to whip up some chili. I felt elegant just topping the meat and beans onto the rice. 1w

crazydervish Picked up the 1st pressing limited German release of the 1972 Doors compilation recently - "Weird scenes inside the gold mine". Recently reissued, the doors geek in me will pick that one up too and listen to them consecutively. Will be looking for more umph and clarity in the reissue. 1w
