courtneyromeo My doctor thinks my body may be building antibodies against the Humira. So in the meantime wants me to take prednisone. I'm so scared! If my body has built up antibodies I may have to switch to remicade. Anyone else have this happen? And what are your thoughts, experiences etc. I would only be on the steroid for a few weeks. #crohns #crohnsdisease #humira #remicade #prednisone #autoimmunedisease #courtneyscrohns 1w
  •   pierceshredcolorme_pinky I never would again simply because of the withdrawal. That's just me. You have to do whatever you're comfortable with. 1w
  •   avispo92 @courtneyromeo that happened to me, and I ended up switching to humira. The prednisone did terrible things to my skin and hair, my hair and nails stopped growing and starting falling out and I got welts on my legs. I was starving all the time and got puffy cheeks and gained almost 15lbs. Once I tapered my cheeks went back to normal and most of the weight came back off my now I get the welts all the time and my hair hasn't grown back. 1w
  •   avispo92 @courtneyromeo sorry *switching from humira to remicade 1w
  •   dstuart1012 I have been on remicade for 8 years, I get 10mg/kg every 6 weeks, however over the holidays I was late for a treatment for 2weeks and that lead to a nasty flare. I took 20 days of prednisone, started at 20mg and weaned down 5mg every 5days. The prednisone gave me nasty insomnia, but I was never tired so it wasn't too bad. Otherwise I had no side effects, it's when you're on it long term it really messes with your system. I did however have nasty neurological side effects from humira, my nerves in my arms started to die. I immediately went back to remicade. But I also know crohns patients that love humera, you have to find what's best for you. Good luck. 1w
  •   dstuart1012 I'm happy to share any experience if you have questions, I've had crohns for 10 years and have never been in full remission but overall you'd never know. Remicade saved my life and like you I was not interested in prednisone but my doctor gave me a prescription to keep at home for emergency flares. One piece of advice would be to make sure you love your GI because you'll see them more than any other doctor. 1w
  •   jennalee423 I had the exact opposite. Was on Remicade for 10 years, Dr took me off Remicade and then used prednisone to "bridge" me over to Humira! As much as I HATE prednisone, it always helps me and that's what truly matters. 1w
  •   courtneyromeo How long were you on it and why did you hate it? @jennalee423 1w
  •   jennalee423 @courtneyromeo I was taking 40 mg every day for maybe 6 months? It made me gain a bunch of weight, made me literally think about food all the time because I was so hungry all the time, made me super cranky and mad about everything, and possibly gave me a lump in my breast. But like I said, it always helps me when I'm flaring up which is what I only really care about. 1w

courtneyromeo Dina, Jane and I had the best time together this morning. I haven't seen Jane in 12 years! It was so nice that the three of us got together and it was like we were teenagers again. But now we are in our 30's with kids!! Some friendships last a lifetime. We can pick up right where we left off. That's a true friend. I love you ladies!! Oh and Nutella French toast is amazing! #oxfordexhange @pastorjane @dnm2004 2w

courtneyromeo Hoping my fellow #crohnies and friends on #humira can help. I've been on Humira for 7 weeks now. I've been symptom free until about week 6 I noticed some soreness again. Started sleeping with my heating pad on tummy again. Well today I cramped after eating a bowl of soup (I forgot how painful abdominal cramps were!) and then again after drinking a protein shake. :( Is it normal to flare while on Humira this quickly. I thought I was getting to remission. Do I need to call my gastro?! Any advice is appreciated!! I remember all the pain again and I'm getting scared! #crohnsdisease #crohns #courtneyscrohns #humirapen #invisibledisease 2w
  •   courtneyromeo @kyandjaxmommy ((hugs back)) lol thank you!! 2w
  •   pierceshredcolorme_pinky I was terrified, but I'm over it. I've had months to prepare. I knew it was coming. I'm more scared of the methotrexate making me puke. Lol. I hate vomit. I'm excited to see what "normal" feels like. 2w
  •   courtneyromeo Omg normal is awesome!! Today's the first time I really feel my disease. Don't be scared. We just have to trust God for no side effects!!!! It's been awesome other than my Humira day stress anxiety attacks!! It's love hate relationship! @pierceshredcolorme_pinky 2w
  •   pierceshredcolorme_pinky I'm glad to hear that. It's encouraging, thank you. My rheumatologist told me I should be very happy with it. I'll keep you updated. 2w
  •   jhinton20 @courtneyromeo I've been on humira for just over a year now and have for the most part been in remission which is amazing! Had a few pains throughout the year and always let my gastro know just on case. Blood tests are a necessity to make sure inflammation markers stay down, but I never had any major flare ups since being on Humira. Even a year later I still dread my injections every 2 weeks but I think it's just me sometimes. Hang in there, listen to your body, you'll know of something is going on 2w
  •   tabithasparkles I've been on Humira for about 5 weeks, but I haven't noticed a difference. I'm still having my normal symptoms:/ 2w
  •   courtneyromeo Have you asked your dr about it? I'm just afraid mine will want to up my dose :( @tabithasparkles 2w
