clintwells Ryan Adams - Cold Roses (2005)

For my birthday I can't play the new Ryan Adams record (released today) because it hasn't shipped yet. But I can listen to this powerhouse double LP from 2005 which is arguably the best record he ever made with The Cardinals.
Hope you all have a nice day. It's good to get older. Get a little wiser. A little quieter. Here's to more listening! Peace, buds.

clintwells "You get me closer to god..." Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (1994)

Although I personally consider The Fragile to be Trent Reznor's masterpiece, there is no doubt that this record will go down in history as likely the most important industrial rock record of all time. This record still sounds like the future and it's mind blowing to consider it in it's context of the early nineties.
2w
  •   manifestiv #mrselfdestruct still has some of the most visceral speed-muting ever 2w
  •   thyraugle 2w
  •   dr._loomis I got this record in 94. It's so sonically dense! I'm still hearing sounds I never noticed before, especially when I listen on headphones!!! BROKEN and THE FRAGILE are my two favs though with PHM being a close third! 2w
  •   alejandro78chano Definitely the album impressed me most in my teens, only a genius like Trent Reznor can do that, when I listen Hurt ..... wow 2w
  •   marissaelinda Yeah, as a teen, there was a moment in time when I had an actual nine inch nail attached to my backpack. 2w

clintwells "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one..." John Lennon - Imagine (1971) 3w
  •   wyeuca @twiggystardust7 I've scored a ton of great records by looking for estate sales and antique malls or flea markets. A lot of time they will have just boxes and boxes of vinyl and rather than sort through it all they will just price them all flat for a few bucks. You have no idea how many kickass records i have picked up that way. 3w
  •   twiggystardust7 That's sick! I've been to a vintage expo and found some cool stuff I got my David Bowie Diamond Dogs there I'm a huge fan if him haha totally in love I have most of his 3w

  •   nolalion I def saw a couple copies in Japan. Are you sure that's not on discogs? I haven't even heard a digital copy of that in 10 years but I don't remember loving it...Meddle on the other hand, is my favorite of theirs 2w
  •   nolalion ...just looked on discogs and grabbed an OG press for $20 in NM. I'm thinking, how can an album that came out in between Meddle & Darkside be bad?! 2w
  •   clintwells @nolalion wha?? Really? Can you send me a link to this?? Oh and you'll love the record. Atmospheric soundtrack to a film of the same name. In fact, it's quite similar to Meddle. 2w

clintwells Ever since I was a boy I loved getting lost in the many wonderful worlds of books. I've always been fascinated by the power of story and the joy of learning.

I'm looking forward to sharing all of these doorways with my daughter. Thank you, old friends, for making my world bigger and more beautiful!

  •   clintwells @books4kids thanks for the introduction and the kind words. Any books you could recommend on methods to helping your kids learn to love reading? I want her to know the joy of books that way I have and I fortunately started at a pretty young age. 1mon
  •   clintwells @books4kids *the way I have 1mon
  •   books4kids @clintwells You know it's really very simple...the more you read to her and share your love of reading with her, the more she will embrace it. Read to her all the time, anywhere. Have books for her all over the house. Once she's old enough to tell you what she likes, you'll find yourself reading the same stories over and over. You'll love every minute of it. It goes fast. Mine are 17 and 21 and now they share their love of music with me. It's all good. 1mon
  •   apstarboard "Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.". Just keep reading to her - even when you are tired & even if she wants the same book 10 nights in a row. I have an awesome little bookstore that we go in & they always make good recommendations - which helps. 1mon
