clintwells Fun few nights in lovely Austin. Back at it for night two at Blaine's Pub.
I'm a dude that generally likes the quieter things in life. An ideal night for me would involve the Cure records, poetry and a Tarkovsky film in a preferably chilled, dimly lit manchild cave. However, there are few things more exhilarating than jumping up on a bar playing a loud solo while sweet fans salute you with Bud Light bottles. In those moments I feel at peace with this weirdo universe, war is an illusion and time is meaningless. Also, tacos. 🏻

clintwells Day off in Austin so I'm playing a show tonight with my @bob_schneider_music pals at Saxon Pub. Should be fun considering I've now fully embraced the dark side. PS - how does Darth Vadar eat tacos???? Like, does he use the force to deconstruct and then reappropriate those sweet molecules into his mask? Probs. 5d

clintwells Last night was fun. I took inspiration from 1980's Bon Jovi and flew over the audience, suspended by nearly invisible wires and played a solo while my guitar was on fire and then flew out of the venue with a jet pack ala Michael Jackson on the Dangerous tour. It took a while to come back down to Earth especially after having a lovely conversation in space with David Bowie but I finally made it. Me and the boys are headed to Billy Bob's which I'm told is the largest honky tonk in America. Last time we played there I got a gay tattoo from a guy visibly on drugs while a homeless man played for us his original songs that were all 9 fucking minutes long. Life is mostly weird and sometimes quite lovely. The end, nerds! 1w

clintwells So glad to be back in lovely Texas with my @sean_mcconnell fam. If you're around come say hi. We're playing this week with my old friends @greenriverordinance in places where my pro-gay tattoos might get me killed! We brought pants and haircuts and rock and roll music. I made this photo on my telephone. Isn't that neat? Okay, bye! 👬🏻 1w

clintwells "I get this feeling I may know you as a lover and a friend, but this voice keeps whispering in my ear tells me I may never see you again..." Eagles - Eagles (1972)

Man. Glenn Frey. A master song writer and singer. And a good guitar player as well. I live in a city where, for decades, it's been fashionable to hate the Eagles. I don't get it. These dudes wrote some of the greatest American songs of all time. When I was 13 I recorded "Hotel California" on my Tascam 4 track recorder. Deconstructing that song is what taught me how to play guitar. It is a masterpiece. It took me a few years to dive back into older Eagles records. Once I did I realized that Don Henley wasn't always the lead singer. Nope. It used to be Glenn Frey. "Take It Easy," "Lying Eyes," "Peaceful Easy Feeling," etc. Those were all Glenn. All these years later those are the songs I gravitate towards and the ones that constantly mystify me. So simple and beautiful. He willingly gave up that role in his band to make way for Don Henley because he KNEW that was best for the Eagles. He's still teaching me how to be a musician.
What a year. So many of these people lost to the great unknown. When our heroes pass it's painful because we feel like we know them well. Their art has made its way into the fabric of our lives. It also reminds us that we're all the same. All humans on the great journey back into the earth. Makes me want to scream or cry. Makes me want to protest death and my own biology. But it mostly makes me want to get up and make something beautiful while I have this small window of consciousness. Thank you for the inspirado, Glenn. Hope you've got a peaceful, easy feeling wherever you are. RIP.

clintwells "I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring." - David Bowie

So bummed that Bowie passed away. His art and spirit helped millions of weirdos like me feel less alone. What an absolute treasure he was.
