clarebowditch One of my favourite research topics: the "soup" of creativity, mental wellbeing, addiction, depression, anxiety and the ongoing potential for richness. Our sensitivity as a gift? What do we know about this?Anyone as obsessed by me about this? Fot any resources or studies they could share? Here's an article that might get you thinking. http://www.newyorker.com/science/maria-konnikova/makes-family-artists #InMemorial #Robin 6d
  •   wendycaldwell1 Great discussion xx 6d
  •   jess_evonne7 No wonder I'm so creative, because I'm crazy 6d
  •   recycled_interiors Goes with the territory xx 6d
  •   bonniejeanm Thank you for sharing, gives some relief to many x @clarebowditch 6d
  •   sarahdashrose Jeff Crabtree (artist) and his wife (psychologist) wrote a book called 'Living with a Creative Mind' that explores both scientific and anecdotal evidence of the creative mind. Helped me understand a lot about how I'm wired and ways to manage it. Zebra collective is the site: http://www.zebracollective.com/ 6d
  •   lanamwood @sarahdashrose yes, that book is amazing 6d
  •   tinasreca Few years ago I stumbled upon the book "The Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine Aaron, whose both a psychologist and an artist, and has researched ( and still researches) the sensitivity trait to a t :) She explains how it is a gift, and how only 15-20% of population have it, both introverts and extroverts ( more rare than introverts); the inseparable link between sensitivity and creativity; explains it trough history ( how we've had warriors and royal advisers ;) the cultural differences ( how Eastern culture values it and a Western culture doesn't really) etc. It was so warming and comforting ( it felt like home :) to read about it in a positive light and with many new insights. She talks about the limitations/ negative sides of being a highly sensitive person too ( feeling easily overwhelmed, learning to set limits. etc) she wouldn't be a highly sensitive person if she didn't hehe:) Also - Dr Judith Orloff writes about emotional empaths( highly sensitive persons) in a similar way, more an intuitive guide but a very positive and insightful too. clarebowditch For those who, like me, are still trying to make sense of the loss of Robin Williams, and looking to find places for it all to sit, my buddy Defah put me on to this New Yorker article, available online now. 1w

clarebowditch Here's a shot of me back before I plucked my eyebrows in the 90's. Always did like travelling. What do you wish someone had said to you as a 19 year old? I wish someone had told me it was all gonna be ok, and that I was enough, and when we are brave we can do great things with this our one little life, big or small things, and I still like hearing all of those things today, almost 20 years. That's why I started Big Hearted Business: as a vehicle to talk about stuff that matters. What do you wish you had heard? What do you still long I hear? Xo 1w

clarebowditch Hello beautifuls! Have you got a seccie? I'm giving a talk at my kidletts school tomorrow about what it's like to have my job. I am trying to condense it pre-empt the most useful questions to answer within my talk. If you could ask me anything work related, what would it be? Much appreciated! CB xxx 2w
  •   emcrokes Is it always fun to do what you do or do you have days where you feel like its a drag? The primary school me would have thought that the musicians life was always glamorous and not have understood that its hard work like any career. Much luck x 2w

  •   loverichmond3121 I used to be involved in mainly primary school talks, speaking about the industry I work in, and kids would often ask how much I got paid which always bemused me as I doubt they really understood pay scales. They also wanted to know about famous people, but their take on famous people was a bit different to mine. 2w
  •   katischehaberfield What you said on Friday night- tell them that whatever they dream about doing can be done - no matter what the grown ups say. Tell them how you had a dream and that it took a while but you followed it. xx 2w
