chuckccc For his No. 21 show, Alessandro Dell’Acqua stuck to his tried-and-tested formula of simple, practical clothes rendered exceptional through lavish embellishment. This time, he melded military & grunge elements w/ couturelike details. The concise lineup struck the perfect balance between elegance & ease. 2min

chuckccc The thing about Alberta Ferretti is this: these looks are never going to be cutting edge - that isn't what she has built her brand on, because her successes are in making women look & feel pretty. It's as simple as that. Any one of these dresses would work at any summer function, day or night. A garden party? Yes. A guest at a wedding? Yes. A gown for a trio of bridesmaids? Yes. A bohemian bride? Yes. Doing pretty - THAT sells. 7h

chuckccc London designers are mad for busy botanical prints this season, including Erdem Moralioglu, who’s as familiar w/ the contents of a greenhouse as he is w/ the best guipure lace Europe has to offer.
His ideas came together beautifully on the runway, flanked by tropical plants in the vacated, stripped-down Selfridges hotel.

chuckccc Julien Macdonald's signature high-wattage glamour & glitz commenced today w/ skin-tight, floral-appliquéd pencil dresses slashed to the navel w/ transparent tulle inserts & cobweb-knit panels that were as sexy as could be, before printed skater silhouettes, ruffled swimsuits, & baby-doll shifts played out. 4d

chuckccc The surfer serves as muse for the SS15 collection of Marc by Marc Jacobs. Bright colors & raver details contribute to a color blocked outing of suiting & sportswear. Injecting the collection w/ tribal-inspired prints, shorts & pants join a series of windbreakers, sleeveless jackets, pullovers & layered shirts. 6d

chuckccc NYFW has become the unofficial home of diffusion lines & collaborative capsule collections. If a designer debuts a new diffusion line, they show it during NYFW. Italy's Versace does both this season. Donatella Versace tapped Anthony Vaccarello to design Versace's diffusion line, called Versus. The result was a black & white collection rooted in Versace's uber-sexy heritage. 1w

chuckccc Rodarte's SS15 was all about tide pools & all of the glistening, mysterious materials & textures therein. Whether the designers were referencing the life aquatic of their California youth or of their verdant imaginations, no matter. They mined the waters & came out w/ dresses mesmerizing in their messiness: elaborate pastiches of hand-painted laces, tulles, netting & embroideries. Exquisite, to say the least. 1w

chuckccc Opulent baroque curls morphing into the body and contrasting with utilitarian simplicity. It was hardly cracked with Lim's propensity for perfectly judged chic but the contrast between rich brocades, painterly florals and geometric embossed organza did make for an interesting experimentation in textiles development for 3.1 Phillip Lim's SS15. 1w
