Many of us 'average' gym go-ers are under the preconceived notion that if we are not walking out of them gym in exhaustion, we didn't work hard enough.

Sure, more energy exerted = more calories burned. But what people forget is the importance of recovery, rest and replenishing yourself correctly. Doing 1 hour WODs 5 days a week, or training at high intensity every day is not only taxing on your body (resulting in injury) but can cause central nervous system fatigue and 'burning-out'. Unless you are an elite athlete (who have very specific recovery methods) there is no need to smash yourself every session.

I, too once thought training myself to oblivion would get me the best results. Instead I was always sore, I couldn't retain muscle, I was exhausted and my sugar cravings were through the roof.
Proper programming always incorporates rest days, deloads and active recovery.. Gains are made when you rest. Happy Friday y'all #longpost #sorrynotsorry #health #fitness #wellness #balance

christineciar SINGLE LEG EXERCISES: Some of us can become so obsessesed with squat PRs, deadlifts and moving heavy weight that we often forget the fundamentals for everyday movement.
9/10 will have a "dominant" or "stronger" side. Rather than allowing that weaker side to continue to be weak, single-leg exercises are a great way to not only get great results, but also correct strength imbalances and improve general balance. If theres anything I have learnt from training at the Stronghold is that training smart trumps training for your ego.
