chrissychapp I can always tell when it's not time to write, even when I "get time" to write. The thoughts don't come together. I scribble and scratch and frustrate myself for words. Okay, Lord, it's okay...now is not the time. I'd rather wait for You then compose some uninspired work of my own. I'll wait...

chrissychapp I've been thinking about this verse a lot. I have much to say about it, but I'm going to leave out the personal accounts of recent conversations and give a general message instead.

Sharing the work of the Holy Spirit in your life will be taken one of two ways: people will praise God, or people will wonder why you aren't praising yourself.
It's the difference between recognizing transformations that have nothing to do with our strengths and everything to do with being rescued in our weaknesses. It's an ability to distinguish achievements of the Spirit vs. achievements of the flesh. It's a stark contrast...complete opposite ends of the spectrum. And to those who don't believe, it makes us look like fools.
By sharing testimonies, we open ourselves up to contention. We will be asked why we aren't taking credit. For the sake of proclaiming Christ's ongoing work, we subject ourselves to being labeled a fool who "drank the koolaid", appearing to manufacture opportunities to try and prove a point.

Let me reassure you: I prove no other point in my testimonies than the fact that God makes beautiful the most ugly things. He makes the foolish wise. He restores the broken and heals wounded hearts. He grants us the ability to do things we never thought possible...the ability to forgive, to love, to overcome, to serve, to reconcile. His Grace is all-consuming and transforming, but best of all, it is free. One day we will make an account and be judged, and this free grace will never appear more glorious, beautiful, and appealing than it will in that very moment.

Don't let life pass you by without asking God to give you a taste of his grace through his Son Jesus...from one fool to another, I confess, it's the most important thing you could ever do this side of heaven.

chrissychapp Hey lady friends! I'm looking for some women who would like to join me at my house for a book study and fellowship starting Wednesday, Feb. 18th. I'll be hosting weekly coffee chats and all ladies are invited! This isn't affiliated with any specific church, just something I'd like to host for the lovely women of our community who are seeking to grow in their faith and get encouragement through female relationships. Even if you can't commit to a book study but would like to come chat when your schedule permits, please do! If you'd like to learn more about this book and/or my upcoming coffee chats, please message me or email me at christine@brettchappell.com. Feel free to share this info. with any local ladies you know who are seeking a mid-week get together as well. 1w

chrissychapp #tbt On January 8th, 2012, I was baptized by Pastor Sabo Cortez. Many of you might not know that my Christian life only began three years ago. This is the testimony I gave that day, recounting my journey to faith and how God brought redemption out of personal tragedy.

This was one of the happiest days of my life, even through the tears. If you are a follower of Christ and have not yet been baptized, I'd love to invite you to my home for coffee and to discuss what it means and why it's important. Please feel free to message me! ️link to testimony video in bio️

chrissychapp This was the scene of an accident only 2 days ago. On our way home from church, we became part of a three car story that sent two people to the hospital. The car entering the intersection to turn left did not see the car traveling beside us at 50 miles per hour. As we slowed down to turn right, we watched in shock as the two cars collided...one of which seemingly disintegrated from the front bumper to the steering wheel. All I could do was hope the spinning cars wouldn't propel into ours, full of children.
In that moment, the only two witnesses, and only uninjured, were Brett and myself.
Within minutes, a friend also returning from our church appeared, wielding an umbrella to shield the injured from the rain and bending over in prayer. An off-duty fireman ran up to assess the injuries and provided care until the ambulance arrived. A passerby calmly directed traffic around the wreckage on the slick, wet road. Strangers, fated to be joined by a moment of mortality, worked in harmony without more than a few spoken words. Amidst the chaos, God had orchestrated a bittersweet symphony of service, all for the sake of dealing with the aftermath of the accident.
When we are brought low by our circumstances, are we recognizing the people God brings into our life as divine appointments of presence? When all we can see is wreckage, when all we feel is trapped in a mangled mess, do we allow the service and help of others bless us without contention?

Sometimes we are brought to a concrete curbside before we take his faithfulness seriously. I've pushed people away. I've given them permission to walk away from my piles of wreckage. "It's not their mess anyways-it's mine to deal with," I'd think. But Jesus doesn't work that way. However many times I've shoved his hand away, my pleas to be left alone cannot overcome God's plan to orchestrate a beautiful melody of redemption and rescue in my life.

Needless to say, I am thankful our family was protected this past Sunday, and thank God for the reminder that Jesus is my first responder, whatever may come my way.
