charitywater Our friends at @livelokai created a limited-edition blue lokai to support @charitywater for World Water Day, and they're donating $3 from each bracelet to help fund water projects in Ethiopia!

To us, water means a world where nobody is thirsty. What does water mean to you? #livelokai

Normal charity: water
charitywater Access to clean water saves families hours every day. Time spent walking to collect dirty water can instead be spent earning income, going to school or even just relaxing. #waterchangeseverything Photo: @estherhavens 3d

charitywater What would you be willing to do for 168 hours to raise money for clean water? This week's #CWCampaignsWeLove features a man who vowed to listen to nothing but @Nickelback for a week straight if his friends would help him raise $10,000. He's currently over $23,000!

You might’ve seen Jesse’s campaign on TIME, Buzzfeed or MTV this week (if you haven’t, check out charitywater.org/blog), but what you might not know is that Nickelback has a generous past of their own. They’ve raised and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars for clean water.

We love seeing people come up with different, creative and crazy ways to raise money for clean water. And this one has been particularly fun to watch. We’re proud to support both parties.

charitywater In celebration of #PresidentsDay, meet one of the most inspiring presidents we know: Natalia, the 15-year-old president of a water committee in Mozambique. She leads the team that maintains the clean water point in her village.

Her story inspired us. We hope it inspires you, too.

charitywater The road to collect water can be a long and challenging journey. In fact, women and children in Africa alone spend about 40 billion hours every year collecting water — water that is typically dirty.

Together, we can change that statistic. Together, we can bring access to clean water to more communities and shorten the walk for more people.

  •   cubbygraham @professorbombay I appreciate your conviction for the importance of water and it conservation. It's a valuable resource and we share the same convictions. Im excited to see that Ashley has actually helped raise over $3,000 for clean water and will help about 100 people get access to clean water for the first time. People eat burgers every day without even thinking about it. Ashley is eating one burger and helping 100 people. That's AWESOME! I think that's worth celebrating. Hope you have a great Friday. 3w
  •   saltay_leatha @professorbombay let's not should on people especially when you're sort of just shoulding your concentrated ideals. "Wasted" now that's a matter of semantics... is it wasted because it's on an animal that will be consumed? ...should animals not be consumed? ...or is the meat consumption volume too high in this country, therefore rendering it as added water wasted? I might consider therefore that pointy finger of judgment could possibly be veered towards an industry or market or a true monster consumption, not so much an individual that is really doing a greater effort and effect that will yes end up being christened with a burger. Glad this ladies contribution will render more good than not. Aaaand end scene. 3w
  •   saltay_leatha Well dang @cubbygraham said it better than me 3w
  •   professorbombay @cubbygraham @saltay_leatha I truly believe Ashley's intentions are innocent and wholly pure. I'm glad she's raising money. I'll keep to myself. 3w

charitywater We’ve spent the past few years developing remote sensor technology that can monitor water flow and alert us when things go wrong. Today, we’re open-sourcing the files so everyone else can too! Check out charitywater.org/blog to read more. 3w
