chaiwalla Colourful Valparaiso. Funny story:- last week whilst in Santiago I met up with a Greek friend that I had been hanging out with in Bolivia. During the night out we met up with his friend that he was staying with whilst he was in town. After hours and hours of chatting and a little bit of dancing I discovered that this friend was no other than @rubenplaza. Just someone who I had already been following on Instagram for years and years! The discovery was quite a hilarious moment for us both. What a small world the world is! #whereswallachile #chile #valperaiso #useinstagrammoreoftenruben 12h

  •   chaiwalla @cdelichte oh awesome - where will you be going? 4d
  •   cdelichte Start in Iceland. Then off to Sweden, bit of Northern Europe, Italy, Greece, Turkey, India, South East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia) Australia, somewhere in South Pacific then end in Costa Rica. Time is quickly creeping up and panic is close to setting in! But it is really exciting in a good way. Because we are travelling with kids we want to be somewhat organized for accommodations, flights etc. but will need to do stuff on the fly also. Wonderful feed! I'm sure I'll find inspiration through your blog and instagram posts! 4d

chaiwalla Genuine terror. Potosi Silver Mines. Scrambling down km's into these mines is the most scary things I have done in my life. Diving out of the way of on coming workers pushing heavy machinery. Crawling blindly through tiny tunnels filled with dust as workers using pneumatic drills to make holes for dynamite. The ground shaking and making thunderous noises. All totally fascinating. Also an eye opener though. We chatted to 14 year old boys who had just started a potential life long role. The working conditions were shocking. The worst part was the guide telling us how many people had died from working here. Millions. #Potosi #Bolivia 5d

chaiwalla Life's there for living! Just had the most incredible three day tour of the Bolivian salt flats and southern deserts. Now I'm in Chile. I've only been here a few hours and I can already see why some people say they're the most friendly people South of the equator. Santiago next! Have a great weekend all. 2w

chaiwalla Old Maps. Stockholm. So calling all Swedes out there, where you at? My sister and her business partner have made national press and there is a huge picture of them in SVD today with an article about their cafe @greasyspooncafe and how they're pioneers behind the brunch movement happening in Stockholm right now. Go pick up a copy and have a read. Feeling proud right now. 3w

chaiwalla HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY

Did you have a good one? I capped off the most incredible year (probably of my life) by spending New Year's Eve mountain biking down Bolivia's infamous Death Road (pics to follow - but to be honest there's such a high risk of death I wasn't able to take many) and partying the night way in La Paz. I started 2014 in Dublin followed by really special trips to Lisbon, Sweden, Catalonia, Copenhagen, Elba, Lofotens and Puglia and later left work and finally made it to LA and San Fran. Exploring South America for the first time has been quite life changing too. Thanks to all new and old friends who have joined me on my adventures and made the last year so magic. So... I am not sure if this year can be topped in terms of travel so perhaps 2015 will have more of a focus on spending quality time with friends and working out a career path that really makes me happy. I also like the idea of trying to work abroad. What are your resolutions?

chaiwalla That time @badtzxo, @chrisconnolly & I were just about to give up on a disappointing and bland NYC sunset when BANG we were treated to about five incredible minutes of this. People were stopping in their tracks in awe. This was a special moment. There was no tinkering done to this picture. None whatsoever. Except a crop. #whereswallaUSA 1mon

chaiwalla Motorcycle Diaries. Decided to go on 6 hour bike ride around the desert. With roads like this it was seriously tough and at first I wished I had a motorbike or to of just stayed at the hostel... however I really got into it and the scenery was so beautiful, quiet, desolate, rugged and unique that I actually really enjoyed myself. I think it's quite an achievement when you travel alone and you get to a stage where you can feel completely content and comfortable alone in solitude moments like this! #whereswallaperu 1mon

  •   tatjanabuisson I think you nailed it. By far the most challenging thing (I've found) about traveling solo: finding peace and contentment within the aloneness. It's such a delicate balance and such a rewarding one. 3w

chaiwalla London. I've been missing home a helluva lot during my travels and I think of London and all my friends a lot. However today I discovered that I have to be back in March so I've under 3 months to go on the road. That doesn't actually feel like long and has made me realise I better make the most of each day and appreciate the lifestyle I'm currently living whilst I can! This shot is another I haven't posted before but found it on the camera roll. Sick of my old 16GB 5S getting filled up so I'm going to clear the camera roll on Jan 1st. 1mon

chaiwalla Running away from fear, towards change.

Found this shot on my camera roll. It was taken last winter in Sweden. The girl in the picture is my sister and one of my biggest idols. She's done a lot of traveling and recently, with a hell of a lot of hard work, commitment and drive set up a successful brunch cafe in Stockholm @greasyspooncafe. Boy after being on the road for three months am I craving their Full English!! Anyhow, this isn't a post to promote the cafe but rather a spontaneous one and one to say thanks to my sister for being an inspiration. Try not to let fear rule your life. Take risks. Ciao for now!

chaiwalla I swear, I swear, please believe me... this is a #nofilter! the lake really was that blue!

I decided not to give up on the Cordillera Blanca mountain range; everything was shut on Sunday, protests and roadblocks on Monday and Tuesday and rain and fog dampening moods until Friday. However I stuck it out and It was the best decision to stay that extra day. This steep hike up to Laguna 69 was 100% the most incredible "one day" hike I have ever done. This glacial lake sitting over 4400m above sea level is nothing but spectacular. The sun also shone for hours and I was finally given a glimpse of the beautiful surrounding mountain scenery. I've simply got to come back and explore more one day in the near future! #iphone5s #fiftyfifty #whereswallaperu

chaiwalla I am just back from the 4 day Santa Cruz hike within the Huascarán national park in Peru. It's meant to be one of the most stunning hikes within South American. I sadly wouldn't know as we got hit by really bad weather and couldn't see much past the rain and fog! On the plus side however I did get to come across this cute calf and her red headed mother. 2mon

chaiwalla Final few steps to the end of the world. Well, it certainly felt like that. Climbing Cotopaxi has fuelled my desire to do some more hikes whilst I am travelling down the Andes. I've got to make the most of these glorious mountains before I head back home. You just can't beat that visual and sensory rush that comes from seeing the view from the top!

chaiwalla Oh hello little fella!! Back from the Galapagos and missing these happy and lazy wee furballs. It's really amazing how close you can get to the wildlife on the Galápagos Islands. They're really just not fussed about you being there. Well all animals apart from the "rejected" group of male sealions. They're sometimes a little grumpy, but it's obvious why. Poor lonely things.
So happy Friday all. And thanks to those (you know who you are) that have sent me kind words asking where I have been hiding. I've been in quite a few places that don't have wifi and I've had my head down learning español. I promise to post more regularly again now. I'm also off to the mountain ranges around Huaraz, Peru so should accumulate a ton of pictures worthy of being shared. Que tenga un lindo día!
