carlyfindlay A sea of poppies at Fed Square, Melbourne. Simply breathtaking. A friend contributed to the #5000poppies project - I'm so proud of her. 4h

carlyfindlay ANZAC Day, Federation Square. #5000poppies "In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields."
John McCrae (1872–1918)

carlyfindlay I wrote this for today’s blog after being told there's bigger things to worry about than accessible language and toilets. “The attitudinal barriers towards disability are as limiting as the physical barriers. If we keep saying there are more important issues than a disabled person's right to use an accessible toilet or how we use language about or towards people with disabilities, or ridiculing disability on TV, attitudes towards disability won't change.

The standard we walk past is the standard we accept.” Read more: carlyfindlay.blogspot.com
