carly_webber I've mulled over launching a @pozible campaign to fund a new DSLR for a while now. So much more I want to do and give, but finding it difficult with the cost of film. Being brave and putting this out there....
If you've ever considered commissioning me for a photoshoot - these are some pretty awesome deals/rewards. Click the link in my profile for all the details and to pre-book (Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne/Wellington NZ - please read dates and details). Or you can simply support me by sharing with your friends. carly_webber I went 100% film almost a year ago and I'm still asked by people 'why?'. I'd love to answer that with a story bursting with romance and nostalgia, but the truth is, for me - shooting film started more as a lifeline than a choice.
Now I am so incredibly grateful for everything analog has taught and gifted me. I love it. More than I ever imagined I would.
Although sadly, I have had to turn down some collaborative opportunities, and pull back or stall personal work and projects because of the cost of shooting and developing film. And that kills me.
That's why I'm really REALLY ready to add a DSLR back into my gear bag. As well as wanting to learn video, mostly I just want to be shooting and telling stories EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I don't yet have $4k to drop on a new camera body and lens, however I'm trusting that it'll all work out as it's meant to soon.
Until then, these babies are the next set to be shipped across the Pacific to @richardphotolab and I can't wait to get them back and share them with the people I've captured.

  •   derek_vonevil @carly_webber gear acquisition syndrome. Lol. Good luck on your quest! 😀 2w
  •   nicolecheriephotography You basically wrote out my exact feelings here. For the last month or so, I've been feeling sad because I don't shoot often enough. I don't "play" enough because I shoot almost all film by choice. Film feels right while I'm working however, the lack of working doesn't feel right. It brings me down knowing o can only afford to do one photoshoot per month. Currently photography is more a hobby than a business. I'm ready to use digital again. Film will always be loved and preferred however, digital can fill in the gaps when I feel creative and lack cash. Thank you for speaking out about this. I haven't shared this yet for myself. Have a great day and have fun shooting more often and as frequently as you desire! 2w
  •   nadeenaportraits I don't even know why people ask... It's film!! That's self explanatory! I went to buy b&w film one day and the guy at the store was surprised I wanted it. He couldn't understand why I'd choose when there was color film. 1w
  •   carly_webber @nicolecheriephotography you said it a hundred times better than I did with this one sentence 'Film feels right while I'm working, however the lack of working doesn't feel right'. Thank you for commenting. Means a lot and I appreciate that someone understands. 1w
  •   carly_webber Hahaha classic @nadeenaportraits If I had to choose, B&W hands down! 1w
  •   nicolecheriephotography You're welcome. I look forward to seeing your new work and good luck with adding a new setup to your kit! 1w
  •   tanyavolt Love this :) 7d
  •   switchmultimedia That's awesome!!! I do pretty much only video on my 5D. I love film but have to agree it is rather expensive. I'm actually just about to ship my first lot if 120 film to @richardphotolab so I'm pretty excited. I shoot everything on my old bronica camera and I seriously can't believe how amazing shooting with it and on film is. Everyone I know is like "you have a 5D, why are you using that old camera"? It makes me feel happy 😀 awesome work 18h

@elusive_sausage at @warehousestudios looking dapper. I met Nathan on IG earlier this year and approached him about working together in a project about culture and Australia's indigenous people. Had such a fun and educational afternoon. More good things to come. So nice to connect with excellent people. Thank you Nathan.

carly_webber This was one of the earliest images uploaded to my Facebook page; taken back in November 2012 at a @petercoulson Workshop. That was almost three years ago. Must get myself down to VIC for his studio lighting workshop! #blackandwhiteisworththefight 4w

I've updated my website and added some more recent work. My port is always evolving and I really value the opportunity and process of reviewing my work - it's interesting seeing how much has changed and what images I still like a year or two on. Can be a little emotional, but empowering too, hitting 'remove' on some images that were once my absolute favourites. Has anyone else completely backflipped their style or genre in the last few years?

  •   abyssic_wizard Absolutely, constantly refining and updating my portfolio. I think I'm finding what and how I like to shoot. 1mon
  •   carly_webber Have you always photographed street/candid portraits @abyssic_wizard ? 1mon
  •   abyssic_wizard @carly_webber No, I started just shooting anything, like animals or portraits then found I liked the non posed shots better and just went in that direction. I haven't been shooting long but im completely immersed in it . 1mon
  •   carly_webber Amazing how 'your thing' pulls you in isn't it @abyssic_wizard 1mon

carly_webber I've had this roll of Delta 3200 film sitting in the back of the fridge for far too long. It's almost a year expired so I put it in the old Minolta x300 just to see how it would come out. I've missed the focus a fraction on this shot with the 135mm lens, but I really love the look. Not a film stock I'm used to shooting but the super grainy texture is amazing.
Fan of grain, yay or nay?

Normal Carly Webber
carly_webber Adam @aaaaa8lllll is a Pole Fitness Competitor, but it wasn't something I had necessarily planned or thought able to incorporate in our photoshoot.
Until we saw the lamp posts at the beach and I turned to him and asked "could you hang off that?"
Poor guy. I had only the C330 on me and left him there for a while as I recomposed and refocused. What a Champion! #strengths
