byhandlondon We're collecting ideas for a whole DIY Wedding series for the blog! What tutorials do you want to see?? (Oh, and we might just be planning a faux-wedding to round up the series...) 4d
  •   wethesewing That Pinterest board made me crazy crave cake. And lace. 4d
  •   eloisematchbox @lunaloon might be of interest! 4d
  •   greencoffeepot I actually used the #elisalex pattern for my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding. Look forward to seeing your ideas on making things that bit extra special, even if I have no intention of getting married soon 4d
  •   sewprettyinpink This is perfect for me. I def need to know how to add boning/structure/inset bra to a pattern without boning. Tips on working with lace and lace applique. Fun sewable centrepieces. Seriously, though, whatever you can throw my way. I've got a wedding to plan, people! :D 4d
  •   zoeblofeld So how do we get an invite to your faux wedding? Or are you having a more private affair? In terms of tutorials I would love to see one on using boning in a bodice and another on sewing with lace. I am actually married already so these would just be fun for me. Thanks! 4d
  •   tifftoffee @shedabbles I've seen those, but then I've read articles saying there's a particular way to do it other than just loops one side, buttons on the other so it doesn't split apart under tension? 4d
  •   annouchk A long flora dress (wrap) can be really beautiful has a wedding dress 4d
  •   nycbookwriter I did my own dress and wedding two years ago. Advice in the beading would have been encouraging. And, if I ever loose my mind and donut again I'd vote for a beaded flora. 4d

byhandlondon Guys, we need your help! We're at the delightful stage of picking fabrics for our printing service and wondered what your thoughts were about sewing with a woven bamboo? We want all the gory details, please! 4w
  •   chickenbootsusa I love the idea of bamboo!! Especially wovens. My only hesitance is if they are a fake 'green' fiber. Do they take so much processing that it's too harsh of a method to make it? 4w
  •   synerror Bamboo sounds nice. Me personally would love a hemp/hempmixfabric (mixes with cotton, bamboo or rayon. Its strong, feels good and are very kind to nature. medium/lightweight woven fabric something. To be able to design and print on silk would feel superduper luxurious too 4w
  •   bouquetbuttons Hmmm just make sure it's really ecofriendly, it would be sad if you, by accident, support green washing 4w
  •   jodietip I don't think I've encountered bamboo fabric yet but I love my bamboo knitting needles and chopping boards :) 4w
  •   hamsterandthebee The hand is amazing, but despite the claims, bamboo is not environmentally friendly. Though is is a rapidly renewable resource, it is manufactured like rayon, by chemically converting cellulose (plant material) into a viscous solution, and extruding it as you would a synthetic fiber, then returning it to 100% cellulose through more chemicals. Sorry to nerd-out! 4w
  •   sabine_catbydesign I have bamboo fabric that's the softest thing I ever came across, highly recommand it! 4w
  •   greysfabric LOVE BAMBOO 4w
  •   jennydegenhardt I'd say it's worth thoroughly researching - while I share hamsterandthebee's reservations, just because something is a chemical process doesn't necessarily mean it's not environmentally friendly as, after all, everything's chemical. But take your time and get this right, I think it's clear we want genuinely green goodies please! 4w
