brilamkin Hey guys, I'm interested in talking more about clean skincare on here. I've shared a few things on occasion and made some videos but I feel like, as much as I love it, youtube is not really the best platform for me to share this kind of stuff. It seems like it would be better received here. Officially under the hashtag #youcancallmecleanbee suggested by a brilliant soul @ksulphoto // Starting with deodorant: I have been using @meowmeowtweet deodorant cream for about five months now and I don't think I'll ever use anything else. Completely clean ingredient list and added bonus it's vegan and handmade. It's baking soda free (the grapefruit one) which is hard to come by in clean deodorant recipes. Baking soda can be a major skin irritant for some people, like myself. This stuff is super gentle and does everything a deodorant should do. It helps with smell but is not too fragrant. I started with the grapefruit and now I'm trying the lavender. This is not an antiperspirant. If you are using an antiperspirant deodorant I would highly suggest you find something new. It's not safe to restrict your body of a natural function such as sweating. Sorry this is crazy long. If you have any questions or things you'd like me to post about concerning clean skincare, let me know! 4d
  •   brilamkin @jenneileenflores I'm not* 4d
  •   jenneileenflores @brilamkin it definitely is worth it! I'm going to try using it again soon to see if the sweating will decrease now that I've made some changes to my diet too 🏼 4d
  •   kywallflower A concern for me has always been dark circles. No matter what I do, hydrate, sleep more, use eye creams I can never seem to get rid of these bad boys. Also, clean sunscreen. With the upcoming sunny days (hooray!) I'll be concerned about that especially since one of the largest organs on my body needs protection! I'd like to go as clean as I can and these are my starting points. 3d
  •   ksulphoto Haha yesss you used the hashtag I suggested 2d
  •   caitlinmauldin Yessssss! I'll have to try this stuff. I've tried about every natural deodorant under the sun and they all have baking soda which = painful itchy rash every time 😑 24h
  •   jenneileenflores Update: busted it out and after 2 days of usage, I'm not smelly and actually sweating less. Maybe no dairy helped me out but I'm definitely back to using it and this time I'm not embarrassed 🏻 23h
  •   graciegirlie i've been using deodorant i made myself for a couple o' months now, for the same reasons (i.e. knowing and liking the ingredients i put on/in my body). i feel empowered and healthy when i'm treating my body with the care it deserves. 23h

brilamkin I haven't been able to use a face mask since switching to clean products, so I was pumped to try out this green clay mask. Super gentle on my skin. When a product has like three ingredients, I'm all 🏻 @livecrude 1w

brilamkin @livecrude contacted me a few weeks ago asking if I would try out their oil for my oil cleanse. (Pictured is their oil cleansing starter kit) I have to admit I was a little skeptical at first. I'd only ever used my own recipe for my oil cleanse and I am wary of trying new products on my superbly sensitive skin. Luckily this stuff is so good and really gentle on my face. Also using the little dropper has really rocked my oil cleanse world in the best way. It keeps things so much more controlled (I was always getting oil everywhere before). If you've been interested in oil cleansing but intimidated by the different recipe options, @livecrude is the perfect place to go. They make it easy by mixing it for you.
Taking a more serious look at the ingredients in the products I use is the best thing I have ever done for my skin. Go clean!

  •   britsbee Would you mind doing a video or blog post about how you use these? I know you have a regular oil cleansing one, but maybe an update? 1w
  •   brilamkin @britsbee I do need to make an updated one. But for immediate purposes I would suggest looking up Cammie Scott on YouTube, she has a video on oil cleansing and she's actually the person I originally heard about it from. 1w
  •   hannahjay8 I'll need to look into this, I've been interested in oil cleansing. Ps--are those sheets in the background? I love 1w
  •   brilamkin @hannahjay8 I wish. Just some fabric I have. 1w

brilamkin 2016 has had a slow start to collage making. I get in these ruts of insecurity and lack of motivation and it makes it SO hard to do anything. But I finally started and I am really ready to make this the best year to create so far. I would really appreciate if you followed along over @brlmkn and tell your friends. 3w

brilamkin As I took this picture I realized how much I expected my life to look like this, a baby on my hip. I grew up the oldest of seven children and that was a natural look for me. My siblings were mistaken for my children on several occasions. I've worked in childcare for 8+ years and my arms have held many a baby and I've been lucky to love so many of those babies. I always expected at this point the babies on my hip would be my own but they're not. And I am completely okay with that, happy even. I just keep hearing that perfect line in All You Need Is Love, "There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be". It may not look exactly the way I expected, but I was right. I was always meant for this. 3w

  •   abbeyykayy Aww, I feel you girl! I'm a nanny too & have always longed to be a mom. Your journey is tougher than mine, but I too feel that I was meant for this, meant to take care of babies no matter who they belong too. Such a sweet thought 3w
  •   jenga_jen Such a beautiful attitude! 3w
