  •   blueapocalypse @jessshaver spent weekend in Margaret River and we went up to Canal Rocks before drive back to Perth. All the rock formations are fascinating and it's a beautiful area. Def gonna stop by everytime I'm down south now! Lucky for us the weather was perfect and the tide was low so we could climb to the other side. 5d

blueapocalypse My first Alfred's Kitchen burger! It's simple, meaty, delicious and so symmetrical - everything is in its right place. It's the kind of burger that makes me think - this is so good that I would love to eat this when I am hungover. Great chips too with chook salt, always. It's a long wait though, feels like the whole Guildford community comes out, young and old, for these burgers and it's a beautiful thing to see and worth it. 2w

blueapocalypse City Provisions combination banh mi (Hay St) > Le Vietnam. Le Vietnam has the better baguette but City Provisions edges over in the fillings department, everything is more present - the pickled carrot, pâté and meat have a little more oomph resulting in every mouthful being a little more satisfying. Also, the City Provisions Viet ladies don't mess around either, they just slap everything in! So in a race to see who makes banh mi the fastest, City Provisions would win but Le Vietnam gets bonus points for presentation and service. Both are good banh mi though, so get it all in ya! 2w

blueapocalypse I buy 95% of my music and I must have it in physical form. I don't like just having a download. I want the CD, I want the artwork and why would you when it's as awesome as this?! Just received a bunch of Japanese albums in the mail that I ordered off Nobel which is a record label that specializes in experimental electronica and post rock. Four CDs for about $23 each and only $2 postage for the lot from Japan to Australia. Artwork from Japan artists always blow me away! Clockwise from the top -> Reliq - Metatropics, Serph - Heartstrings (unicorns!), Kashiwa Daisuke - april. #02, Serph - Vent. Now I am going to listen to ALL the music... 2w

blueapocalypse Tried the 'Original' banh mi at Le Vietnam today. My favourite part was the bread, tasted really fresh, light and crisp on the outside and cottony soft inside - it collapsed and crumbs splattered everywhere when I bit into it. I note their attention to detail where the thin slices of rolled pork and Vietnamese ham weren't just slapped in but carefully arranged/layered on the base so that you got a bit of each meat with every bite which was nice. Pretty enjoyable banh mi, but if anything, I wanted some grittiness to it - a bit more pâté, a little more soy sauce, more coriander, the meat to be a little more seasoned so when I bite into it, it's a punch in the face that bowls me over and I lay on the grass having sweet dreams. I think this is the difference between the banh mi you get in the burbs like Girrawheen compared to the ones in the city. I wasn't bowled over yet but I would be happy to keep coming back for more Le Vietnam. 2w

blueapocalypse I am obsessed with @momomilkbar cornflake crunch with is cornflakes mixed with sugar, milk powder, melted butter and bake at low temperature in oven till toasty awesome! How can I consume more of this cornflake crunch? Here's an idea - shortbread cookie base topped with Momofuku cornflake crunch and flaked almonds that have been mixed with melted butter and honey to stick together (like a honey joy!) bake until toasty awesome. Stoked with the results. I don't know if I can share. #breakfast #homebaking 3w

blueapocalypse Love soups with dumplings or meatballs. Made some pork, prawn and tofu meatballs in pork/prawn broth with bamboo shoots. Used pork bones and prawn shells to make the soup. Love been able to turn prawn shells into stock, so flavoursome #homecooking #dinner 4w
  •   sex.on.a.plate Perfect meatball combo! I would've also added some asian anchovies, ginger, fresh chilli and seaweed into the broth! 4w
  •   kellyyyllek Love meatball soups too! I've avoided making prawn stock from scratch since the last time I did it my housemates didn't appreciate the smell! 4w
  •   blueapocalypse @sex.on.a.plate this version is pretty simple but definitely room to improvise and love the idea of seaweed in the broth, hit of chilly would be nice too :) 4w
  •   sex.on.a.plate Steam/Deep fry them in wonton wrappers and they become dim sum! Haha.. 4w
