•   jeff_prose Funny I was to from 9-noon 18h
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Awesome! We got there about 7:30, and left a little before noon when all the people started coming out. Still worth it though! 18h
  •   jeff_prose For sure! Last year was a lot better! 18h
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Definitely was! I went twice last year, first in January when they initially opened and not many people had gone, and it was way better then. Second time I went in late Feb and they looked like they did this last weekend, partially melted and broken off. Still pretty though! 18h

  •   andorius Thank you! Wish I had a flash to better illuminate the rock wall.. Probably wise to wait a while, sooooo many people going there. I wanna head up to the north shore and shoot some icey falls! 3w
  •   blaze15 @andorius Definitely do!! All sorts of great places to go up there, winter is just as great as summer time to see all the different parks. Especially with less people 3w
  •   andorius I've only been up there in the fall. I don't have a car and haven't been able to convince anyone to head up there for a weekend in the winter... :( 3w
  •   blaze15 @andorius Aw, that's no fun! If you do find someone to go with I'd be happy to meet up and show you some of the less known sights up there! 3w
  •   andorius My favorites are caribou falls, the rock beach off OLD hwy 61, the falls on the cross river and the little falls on the manitou river. Got more less known spots? I am always happy to know of more places, aside from the obvious state parks like tettegouche and such... Feel free to delete this comment, so these places don't get too popular! 3w
  •   blaze15 @andorius I've been to most of those except Cross River. I'd like to go way up and see all the falls past Grand Marais too! Do you mean Brighton Beach as the rock beach? Or Bristol beach or Stony point? They're all great rocky beaches to visit. Have you been to Iona's Beach Scientific and Natural Area? Highly recommend!! It's near Gooseberry, so it's easily missed. Also, the beach across from Split Rock, and Ellingson Island, which you can walk out to when the tides are lower. That's all I can think of now, but there's probably more I'll think of later. There's really so many places up there 3w
  •   andorius Yeah, 150 miles of awesomeness! I also wanna head up the pigeon river and see the falls next to the border crossing on 61 and a bit west to 'middle falls' which is best accessed from the canadian side. The rock beach I refer to is actually on private property. Just after tettegouche, a old hwy 61 splits to the right from 61 and after a few blocks kind of ends. You can walk down the hill to the beach from there, tis a nice, quiet beach. Visit the cross river for sure! The main falls, which is quite rad, is right under 61, but there's a gorgeous rapids/sorta falls just inland. I've been to all but the Iona's beach scientific area, never heard of it! Will be sure to check it out. Thanks for sharing! 3w
  •   blaze15 @andorius You're welcome!! Thanks for the tip about the other beach and Cross Falls! There's really so much I haven't seen up there yet, including more boundary waters and far north west and central MN. Iona Beach is made of rhyolite rocks which makes the beach look pink. Quite pretty! There's another SNA a little farther north, a few miles south of Schroeder, which is Sugarlarloaf Cove SNA. Another pretty little beach and nature center that's worth a look! 3w

  •   jeff_prose Nice! I've been to that town about 100 times! 1mon
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Thank you! It's my hometown 1mon
  •   jeff_prose Great! I got some friends that live up in Solon and over close to Bennett. I've been cruising around all those roads for close to 20 years! I like stopping at Sidelines and getting drinks to go! Only in WI 1mon
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Bahaha, that's Sidelines! That's my parents friends bar, and they like to go to it, especially for Taco Tuesdays. Went to Solon for HS, and actually grew up in Bennett right off of 53! Funny! 1mon
  •   jeff_prose If I remember right the guy's name is Brad and his wife is Tracy. He's also a paramedic if I recall. I've tipped em back with them before... At sidelines and at the Gopher hole it's a small world! My friends live off L and another guy I know lives a little north of there. 1mon
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Yup, that's them! My dad is a volunteer firefighter for Bennett so that's how he knows them. We used to live just north of L off of what is now Line Road. Such a small world! 1mon
  •   jeff_prose I know that road too, I'd be willing to bet I've met your Dad. My friend was on the FD until he broke his back. I think he still helps out on some calls though. Before Bennett got new trucks I went and drove a couple of their fire trucks around...I've got some stories from that area I could go on and on!! 1mon
  •   blaze15 @jeff_prose Hah, I bet you have!! My dad has been in the FD for years, he even wrote the grants for the new trucks! 1mon
