bjenright Ruby is back from the shop. New shutter (400,000+ clicks!), new hotshoe, new grips. It's like a brand new Nikon D700. Thanks, NPS! Can't wait to give it a go with an engagement session in Central Park tonight! #nikonprofessionalservices 2w

bjenright I've known Scott and Kate for 10 years (I shot their wedding, Scott was a groomsman at mine), and they were some of the first people I talked to when I found out I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, as they live close to Bellevue Hospital. Come to find out, Scott's mom is a 10-year survivor of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which is much more aggressive and harder to treat. We all met up at Fraunces Tavern downtown a few days ago, where they treated my mom and I for a really great lunch -- and cronuts for dessert! It was great to talk to Scott's mom, especially -- her positive attitude was really contagious, and hearing her story of survival gave me a big boost of confidence. 3w

bjenright Having my mom here with me for the past three weeks has been a total blessing. I wouldn’t have had this time with her, and she’s been a huge help with supporting me as I adjust to a life with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. There’s a piece of writing called “Don’t Waste Your Cancer” by John Piper (available as a free PDF here http://www.desiringgod.org/books/dont-waste-your-cancer) that I plan on reading soon, but the title alone is so powerful and resonates so well with me. This is a life-changing opportunity for me to really set my priorities straight, and I’m actually thankful for what cancer has already done for my life, my marriage, and my relationship with friends and family. As for a health update, I was supposed to get chemo #2 on Wednesday, but my white blood cell counts were too low so it’s been pushed back until next Monday. So for now, lots of hand-washing and laying low until the counts get back up. 3w

bjenright People have been asking me "how are you doing with Andrea down in Texas?" I'll be honest, initially it was tough -- especially while I was in the hospital. But one of the great constants of our relationship is that distance strengthens us. At home we work and hang out and watch a lot of Netflix, but apart we talk on the phone and send messages and pictures and show deep love for each other. I know that the man upstairs has a plan with the timing of everything, and that great things will come from this experience. Now that I'm managing my recovery relatively well, I'll be visiting her in Texas next week, and when I'm (hopefully) done with Chemo at the end of September we'll be doing an epic vacation to celebrate life and us and everything. This girl means the world to me, and there's no one else I'd rather beat cancer with than her. 4w

bjenright My mom's here, and she's such a trooper. She's practically been living in hospitals for the past month with what's been going on with my dad. He's stabilized and possibly coming home to Michigan for rehab soon, which is great news and a huge answer to prayer! As for me, started putting me on steroids as I wait for the official diagnosis, with treatment to begin (and getting out of the hospital!) on Tuesday. 1mon
