benhillphoto 50 Megapixels of pure sex. I have waited a long time to upgrade, and I think this might be the one. 3w
  •   ambrosiastudios Well start saving up for more hard drives! Lol! Should be interesting to see how the sensor performs in low light as well. When I bought the D800 it started eating up HDD space like crazy, so I can only imagine what the 5Ds and 5Dsr will do... Looking forward to seeing reviews. 3w
  •   photo_troy I know what the camera looks like, I wanna see some files... @canon #proofsinthepudding 3w

benhillphoto Not my photo. I'm probably going to catch hell for this, here's my take on American Sniper: see the movie then read the book. Hollywood is never going to learn that the truth is always better than fiction. You don't have to make things up for the sake of 'narrative' to tell a great story. Spoilers are ahead if you haven't seen it. The thing that really pissed me off about the movie was the ridiculous sniper battle between Chris Kyle and Mustafa. Didn't happen, at least according to Kyle. Mustafa gets less than a paragraph's mention in the book, and Kyle says he never once went up against him. 1mon
  •   sigscouser I saw the movie at the weekend, and it was a good movie, I have,nt read the book yet, I plan to do that in the Summer when I have time. I think the point of the movie was to get the human side across, as you say'great soldiers are human, and they can have problems when they get home. 1mon
  •   colin_warhorse I read the book while sitting in the jungles of Colombia really great read. I have yet to see the movie 1mon
  •   benhillphoto @warpaintcustoms do you remember anything in the book about Chris sniping at looters during Hurricane Katrina or about him killing two two guys that tried to steal his truck? This is coming out of the slimeball British press, and I don't remember any mention of those things in the book. 1mon
  •   colin_warhorse The Katrina story was not in the book it how ever is a story I had heard a few years back but could never be verified. The truck is bullshit he was killed and his truck stolen by a piece of shit. It was Men like Chris why we don't speak with a British accent and they need to remember that don't ever try to tax our tea again! 1mon
  •   andrewbaggetttx People are saying that he made up a lot of stories (Ventura, Katrina and the stealing) but I have never even seen anything about them besides Ventura case and I think they're just bullshit stories to make him seem like a dick. 1mon
  •   555dotcom Hahah yeah.... im sure the new york times followed up on his stories to prove he was a "dick" they did it to prove a long standing web of lies he used to make himself fit the archetype of "hero" . However the katrina story was followed up and used by another seal and author of lone survivor. This whole movie has done one thing and one thing alone. Proved how pathetic and nationalistic and hypocritical americans are. 1mon
  •   benhillphoto From what I can find, the Katrina story comes from an article by a guy named James Joyner where he talks about having a conversation with Kyle about the topic. Kyle never claimed to have been in New Orleans, much less kill anyone. He said he knew some active duty SEALs that had been leant to Blackwater to sort of police the area. When asked if they killed anybody, Chris just smiled and shrugged. That's not an admission of anything. Just more bad journalism from the UK. 1mon

benhillphoto My brother and his new Epiphone Sheraton II, doing his best Gary Clark, Jr. Impression. No gun pics today. Can't post 'em every day. 1mon

benhillphoto Starting the book before I see the movie. No original photos today. Need to take it easy after the walloping my shoulder took yesterday at the hands of the shotgun. It works, though, and that's important.
Can anyone suggest an affordable AR scope that's good out to at least 50 yards. And I mean better than Barska.

  •   sigscouser I am going to see the movie today. I will report back on what it was like. 1mon
  •   555dotcom Decent movie. Combat scenes were sweet. Pretty accurate . of course huge american bias but it deals with re adjusting to civillian life and the troubles people face coming back from tours of duty pretty good. Definitely a watchable movie. 1mon
  •   austinstank Incredible movie. Don't believe the keyboard commandos (the gun owners acting like they know everything). Everyone on Fandango is giving it 5/5 stars. I read the book and the movie was just as good. Battle scenes were more realistic than Black Hawk Down and Lone Survivor. 1mon
  •   benhillphoto Well, I didn't see the movie tonight, but I have read half the book. 1mon
  •   tujuggernaut Out to 50 yards you don't need a scope, get a ultradot. 1mon

Normal Ben Hill
benhillphoto Some of you might have guessed that the Turbo is my go-to when I'm out of new pictures, but I hope to remedy that this weekend. Yesterday was a personal milestone for me as a gun owner. I just don't have pictures of it yet. Tomorrow, we hit the range after several weeks trapped in an apartment by bad weather and lack of funds. Hope you will be doing the same. 1mon
