bencapozzi First batch of orange "ditch lilies" from @redmugcoffee! Getting dark so I used a filter to make them easier to see—there's a batch on the southwest side of each of those first 3 #peach guilds. Jess was super generous and I have so many more to plant! About 1/3 of the way done, but for now I need to water 'em in and #clover 'em over before night falls! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping #permaculture 11h

bencapozzi A little tricky to weed whack AROUND the buttercups, but I think I managed! #gardening 13h
  •   bencapozzi @northwesthomestead I think I want to design a wildflower planting for the median strip, but we also park our cars their often so they may be trampled occasionally. And huckleberries! 8D 11h

bencapozzi Trimmings from the Late Fry #muscadine. These are seriously long and I wonder if I can propagate from this? I hear that grapes "strike" very well, that is, they put on roots more easily than other plants. We'll see. #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping 13h

bencapozzi I've noticed a wild grape vine growing here every year since we moved in. So, I'm replacing it with a #muscadine of our choosing—Late Fry—mostly because it makes me think of #Futurama. Ha! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping #eatyouryardout 13h

  •   blueyespirit So pretty! I'm always so impressed by your and Elyse's gardening results! And all the work put into, of course. ;) 1d

  •   northwesthomestead I spent four months in western china. The signs were one of my favorite parts. So funny. 2d
  •   bencapozzi @northwesthomestead that sounds awesome! Gardening? 1d
  •   northwesthomestead Nah ski area development. It was a different life. Project never actually took off so really it was a paid summer of hiking around the mountains planing on skiing there and eating lamb and drinking horse milk tea with the Kazakhs. I enjoyed it. The Kazakhs are some amazing peps 1d
  •   bencapozzi @northwesthomestead sweet former life! 1d

bencapozzi Some folks are getting mighty leggy, so we moved to the kitchen window. Still, we've got #huckleberry and #tomato and #artichoke and #broccoli and #melon, oh my! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping 3d

bencapozzi Scratch testing lots of plants in this morning's #gardencheck and repaired some frost damage to this #muscadine vine. It split close to the ground-that's my knife cleanly passing through it-so I pruned it back below the split and was happy to see green under the outer bark AND some new growth at the base—it's rebounding! Also, I cut myself. Lol. #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping 4d

bencapozzi Oh, snap, local farm supply now stocking great #permaculture plants in their greenhouse! I saw #comfrey and #borage, two kinds of #fennel, #cardoon, and Malabar spinach! Yay, @abbottsalmanac! #buylocal #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping 5d

bencapozzi This morning's #gardencheck! The fernlike leaves of the #Honeylocust; is that #amaranth coming back from where it self-speed last year?; we are going to have a LOT of garlic this summer; last of the tulips blooming, but the alliums are coming in now so we should have more flowers soon! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping #permaculture 6d

bencapozzi Highlights from this morning's #gardencheck: color in the outer orchard from #apple blossoms and #tulips; the Adams #elderberry is leafing out; a bud is waking up on the weeping #beech; a perfect garden passage—rain on perennial red #clover and Daikon #radish; corkscrew #willows all need to go from pot to plot; #sumac budding out—hope to make lemonade this summer! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping 1w

bencapozzi This morning's #gardencheck, clockwise from top left: winter hardy #banana prepping to unfurl first leaf; pokeweed will NOT be mulched over!; it delights me that the #marionberry and #clover are supporting me with this log hole idea; race to the top among King David apple tree and Ianto's Fava #beans; Black Mission #fig respawn; vertical growth on the Nisbet's Gold #pine; out early #blueberries have almost lost all their bells on account of the heavy rain, but our system has redundancies! #gardening #growyourown #ediblelandscaping #permaculture 1w

bencapozzi Front yard pouring down! Rain barrel was full already. New #hostas and #tea plants getting a good soak. This is a little bare right now, but I'm slowly filling it all in: it's tricky because it's underneath a massive #magnolia with lots of shade. #gardening 1w
