beardart So stoked to call this my studio for some live art tonight with @josephine.johnson at the Arcata Playhouse. Sound check in full swing now. Show starts 8:00. Find a way to be here. Consider time travel if you must. 6d

beardart Looking forward to shifting gears from all this outdoor landscape painting and doing some Live Art tomorrow night indoors at the Arcata Playhouse to the sounds of some incredibly talented musicians. It'll be a 36"x36" canvas, and it'll go home to the highest bidder in the hall to benefit the local nonprofit Food for People, unless one of you folks throws down a bid that doesnt get topped. No fancy online bidding for this one, just holler with a number if you want to put your name in the running. But better yet, come to the show and be a part of the experience. We'll have fun. 1w

beardart Because I still find the color if the water in my previous post's painting somewhat unbelievable. Apparently it was some sort if spawning fish happening, which is rad because fish tacos. 1w

beardart Ok. This came up fast. But if you don't have Friday night plans yet (or dont mind changing the ones you already had) come out to The Neighborhood Alliance and check out my all new art fort while enjoying some live music from at least a few of the guys in this photo. Its been a long month and a half of transitioning and this will be the first evening event we've had since I moved in. 1925 Alliance Rd. 6-10pm. Bring tacos. 2w

  •   cmtillustration I miss this view almost daily. Thank you for sharing it. 2w
  •   t.scoggins Matt, i appreciate an artist who captures beautiful but sensitive locations and knows how to share them in such a way that allows its to appreciate them aesthetic without blowing up their name. Artists down here have not yet figured out how to do a painting without claiming the names of the spots they paint. I miss being up in the woods and seeing your paintings everywhere. 2w

beardart Beyond stoked on my new gallery/studio in the warehouse at 1925 Alliance in Arcata at The Neighborhood. It's been a long month of moving and setup but it's on now and I'm posting up down there Tuesdays -Saturdays 11-5 or so. Stop in sometime. You can also grab a 6'2" and a warm cup of organic tea. How many galleries can say that? 2w

beardart Well unfortunately I completely spaced out and forgot about a Live Art gig last night with a bunch of wonderfully mad poets at the Arcata Playhouse. Kicking myself for that one. Artists. Sheesh. So anyway, I (hopefully) won't forget about tomorrow nights fund raiser for Trinidad School's art and music program at the Trinidad Town Hall. Not sure if tickets are available or not, but if you're into helping kids further their creative lives, and want to own this 36"x36" canvas after I'm done with it tomorrow night, shoot me your bid and I'll put you on their list. Cheers. 3w
  •   kjday1 I'll be there! Would love to bid. Thanks! C u there!3w

  •   jak_art Is there a large artistic community in the Humboldt area? Can I ask, why do u choose to be there and do your art rather then living in a city with flourishing artistic competition. @beardart 3w
  •   jillpillhoffman @jak_art ummm have you BEEN to Humboldt??? It is an amazing, beautiful, one of a kind place to live. 3w
  •   beardart @jak_art Yes, there is a huge art community here. And its beautiful in every direction. I can't imagine how anyone could actually prefer big city life to this, but to each their own, it's all good. Besides my art life is not very competitive anyway, I just like to make what I make and share it with folks that dig it. This place suits me pretty well. And for the record- I don't grow weed and never have either. Except that one plant in college but it was a male and that was that. But yeah as far as the art community goes, I always hear that we have more working artists per capita here than anywhere in California. Not sure if that's still true, but yeah there are a ton of amazing artists hiding out up here either way. 3w
  •   woodfootsurfcraft Well said mr. Beard 3w
  •   jak_art @beardart I like your view man! I totally agree with the beauty of nature over a city any day. I respect ur approach to art and love your work because of it. I hope to be able to do the same with my ceramic arts soon. Thanx for taking the time to explain. I was just curious and think you have a pretty rad reasoning. Keep on KEEPIN on man and I hope to visit you and see ur work in person one day. I'm sure I will soon :) 3w
  •   humlisa Beautiful!! 3w
