atxcowboy This summer I have been to #Prague in the #Czech Republic. Once you climb your way all the way up to the castle you will see well, #roofs, lots of red roofs!

It’s a beautiful #city and so I thought I should share this with you for the #Christmas time, where there is so much #red floating around as well. Enjoy!

And speaking of it… How as your Christmas? Did you get any photography gadgets?

atxcowboy My next trip will lead me to the #Czech Republic again. I will be on my way to Mariánské Lázně #marianskelazne in a few hours. If time permits, I will pay the #abandoned house Nimrod another visit.
Either way, I plan on taking a lot of late #summer photos. #scary #view

atxcowboy Ways and water ways. The lake looks like yet another parallel path to walk on with this #longexposure photograph. The County Line BBQ restaurants in #Texas typically feature #scenic views. This was taken at County Line on the Lake in #Austin, Texas, #austintx and features a #view on the #lake. #water 12mon

atxcowboy The Pennybacker Bridge in #Austin, #Texas, connects the northern and southern sections of the Loop 360 highway across Lake Austin. The Loop 360 highway is widely considered one of the most #scenic urban drives in central Texas. #austintx #sunset #water 1y

atxcowboy My first #instagram in a long time. There is not really much to see here except for #water at #bartonsprings in #austin #texas #austintx, but this is just great in the pre #summer #heat over here. 95F. Ugh. 1y

atxcowboy Before I post another photo of the abandoned house Nimrod, I have a little story to share.
I took this photo of a little #waterfall in Bad Königswart (Lázně Kynžvart) in the #Czech Republic and used my Canon 7D on a Tripod for the #longexposure shot.
So while I was putting up my equipment, a lady came by and asked me harshly why I wanted to take a photo of this place. I told her, I wanted to take the photo, because it would look beautiful with a long exposure of the flowing #water in a #winter #nature scene and it would show off the beauty of this place. The lady was stunned. She was scared I would take a photo of a piece of rubbish that was lying around. It didn't even occur to me to do that. So after I was done with my long exposure photos (I took several and it took a while), I went to the building where she was coming from. I went inside and asked to see her. It turned out she was the manager.
I showed her the photo and she was so excited and asked me to get a copy of it so she could frame it.
I told her: "If you're ashamed of rubbish lying around, then take care of it and don't try to prohibit photos of it. You were so focused on the rubbish that you totally ignored the beauty of nature that could be found next to it."
She looked dumbfounded and pointed me to the door.

atxcowboy This is my first photo shoot of an #abandoned #house. The now abandoned hotel #Nimrod used to be a great getaway for locals from Marianske Lazne in the #Czech Republic until about 5 years ago. Since the house has been abandoned, pretty much everything was taken away from it. I took dozens of photos at this location and there are a lot of interesting photos among them. Don't worry, I won't post all of them. This photo caught my attention during post processing, as I didn't notice the #blood on the wall until I actually processed the photo at home. #Scary!

So what should I post next? I actually have a hard time to decide what to post next: Another photo of the abandoned hotel, a long exposure water photo from this most recent trip or something totally different, i.e. a nightshot of New York? Let me know what you think!

  •   egrdesignco Wow!!! This is amazing. There is such a rich culture to photos of abandoned houses. It's as if a lonely person is standing there. It says so much. And all the lives that walked inside. Creepy and beautiful. 5mon

atxcowboy A real instagram! I am currently in Lázně Kynžvart (#kynzvart) in the #Czech Republic. This time there is no green to see as everything is covered in #snow. The photo shows the #Metternich #castle, where a part of my family has lived and worked for a few centuries. 1y

atxcowboy My first trip of 2013 will take me to the #Czech Republic. I'll be in Mariánské Lázně next week. There is a lot of nature in the area I stay in. This photo of a #green #creek was taken in Lázně Kynžvart (#kynzvart) near the #Metternich castle, where a part of my family has lived for a few centuries. 1y

atxcowboy There is something #magic about #Neuschwanstein Castle in #Bavaria #Germany and it's not the fact that Disney's magic kingdom was built after it. It's the incredible #view you have from Marienbrücke, the fine details of the #castle, the pittoresque landscape, the perfect location! It's a must see. This photo was taken with my 300mm lense. 1y

atxcowboy I was fascinated by the old #boathouses at the northern shore of Lake #Königssee in #Bavaria, #Germany. This photo is another #longexposure capture. I will definitely have to go back to this place! Enjoy the view! 1y

atxcowboy The #Kehlsteinhaus was built as an extension of the #Obersalzberg and erected in the #mountains above #Berchtesgaden in Bavaria, #Germany. Kehlsteinhaus is only accessible via an elevator. Before you reach the elevator you have to walk through a 124m tunnel. This photo was taken in the #tunnel leading through the granite below the Kehlsteinhaus. 1y

atxcowboy This #summer, I had the chance to spend a day at Sirmione, at #lakegarda. Here is another #longexposure photo of the #water surrounding the scaliger #castle. Enjoy the view!

I apologize for not posting photos recently. One of my RAID 1 drives where most of my photos are on at home died and I had only a degraded array until today. I'll take this as a chance to reorganize my photo library and I'll post more again soon...

atxcowboy I took this photo at Grotte di Catullo in Sirmione this summer. The name is slightly misleading, as this is not a grotto (it used to be a villa instead), nor is it the place where the #Roman poet Catullo lived (the villa was built after the poet's death, though he visited the city several times). Nonetheless it's an interesting compound. I hope you enjoy the view and maybe if we call count 1 -2-3 #summer will be here for us right away, right? 2y

atxcowboy This #summer, I had the chance to spend a day at Sirmione, at #lakegarda. So, of course, I had to take a #longexposure photo of the #water surrounding the scaliger #castle, one of a few medieval port fortifications. Enjoy the view! 2y

atxcowboy I am sorry if this photo is disturbing. I happened to be in Berlin again last week for a conference on Open Government Data by Fraunhofer Fokus. On my second day in #Berlin I finally went to see the #Hohenschönhausen #Memorial, which used to be the main prison of the former #Stasi. It was a very disturbing visit. This photo was taken in the #basement of the original building where the Russian and then East German authorities used chinese water torture and physical violence. Several thousand people were killed down there. It is still surreal to think about how I attended a conference on Open Government Data and then the next day I saw this #scary place that could not even be found on a map 25 years ago, because it was classified as top secret. 2y

atxcowboy I took this #longexposure photo from #Malerwinkel at lake #Königssee in the so called "Berchtesgadener Land" in #Bavaria this #summer. The view on St. Bartholomä and the Steinernes Meer in the distance is spectacular. 2y
