This is my remix of a photo taken by the talented @jenburnett. She was kind enough to let me go nuts with a couple of her shots, and this is the first one. Hope you dig it.

If you aren't already following Jen, you should head over to her feed, and check out her shots. She's got a great eye for architecture, and loves shooting in her hometown of Washington D.C.

  •   danraebru Great great unique gallery Jon. We seem to have similar styles in a lot of respects, attracted to light & things a little left field Love how your style has also evolved from your earlier shots, seem to start out with some minimal shots with an edge & developed into a Eerie dark sci-fi style. Love your work - very happy to follow 2d
  •   atomicvibe @danraebru You hit the nail on the head, Daniel. I'm a graphic designer by profession, and an artist at heart, so I definitely approach photography with more of a designer's sensibilities. As you pointed out, I started rather minimally, and have been evolving. That's quite true. However, mo matter how crazy some of my edits get, I have been, and probably always will be, attracted to the designer-y things I find interesting: form, color, texture, pattern, saturation, light- and shadow-play, and composition. And of course, my love of sci-fi, electronic music, and, as you say, the left field, definitely are strong influences on my subject matter and edits. I was an EDM DJ for about 10 years, and I still mostly listen to electronic music of some sort, and these days, I have a strong preference for deep, dark, mysterious, sometimes somber sounds. One of my favorite electronic music producers is Burial, and I liken a lot of my images to Burial's music. It's the stuff lurking in the dank shadows of little traveled city alleys in the wee hours of the morning. Anyway, glad I found someone with *very* similar aesthetic interests. I'm really going to enjoy seeing your feed unfold. 2d
  •   danraebru Great to hear a bit of your story, you're very talented. Somebody recommended burial the other day to me, I'll have to definitely check it out!! You should give the movie score to 'under the skin' a listen, I have a strong feeling you will like it. Thanks again for all the extra likes & comments, very kind @atomicvibe I'll be back to your gallery shortly 2d
  •   atomicvibe @danraebru I'm definitely going to check out the scores to Under the Skin and Snowtown. And you should try Burial for sure. His newer music is complicated, disjointed, and not very easy to listen to if you're unfamiliar with his style. I'd suggest starting with his most accessible album, 'Untrue' first, then working through his EP's 'Kindred' and 'Street Halo.' From there, I might suggest his debut self-titled album, to give you a sense of where he came from, and how his sound & style has evolved. His newest EP's 'Truant/Rough Sleeper,' and 'Rival Dealer' showcase where he is headed musically, and have to be experienced as musical landscapes than collections of 'songs.' Once you can accept them this way, it'll make listening to these works much easier. Anyway, I think you'd really like his stuff. It's gritty, and muffled, and brooding, and dances in and out of murky shadows. 2d

atomicvibe My baby girl's going to learn about typography with these sweet Alphabet Factory blocks by House Industries. She won't be able to play with them until she's 3, which gives ME plenty of time to play with them first. 6mon
