ashleysirmans The best method for starting a diet or exercise program is: Just do it. I go by the "all or nothing" approach for one reason: I hate tip toeing my way in to something. Yeah its great making small cut backs, a diet soda here, a piece of chocolate there, exercising Monday and skipping out until Thursday. That's great if you're expecting slow results. This approach generally back fires due to false expectations. A person may feel as if they're putting in the work to reach their fitness goals but not understanding the true dedication and discipline it takes to have a 6 pack, toned legs, or lean muscle etc. Add to that a person expecting quick results. The formula just doesn't add up, people can get easily discouraged when those results don't happen as quick as they thought it would. And making those small cut backs, which is really, rewarding yourself more than what you deserve, only sets you up for failure. That piece of cake on Tuesdays and Thursdays opens up a Pandora's box of cravings that could lead to binge out sessions, then you're back to square one before you know it. ashleysirmans 6 things about me outside of fitness:
1. I have a thick country girl accent. If I had a dollar for every time someone assumed I spoke Spanish because of how I looked.
2. I'm a compete loner. I don't have a clique of girlfriends I could call and hang out with on the weekends. Don't even have one. I dread superficial relationships and cannot maintain friendships that lack substance. I want a soul bestie. Not a group of people I feel alone with.
3. I am a writer. I have pages upon pages of poetry and motivational self help essays that I am working on to get published.
4. I love communication via email. There's nothing like getting a good, long email read.
5. I never paint my fingernails.
6. I am Agnostic. I love God. I believe in a higher power. I love religion, it's a beautiful thing, whatever gives someone hope, love, a moral compass, and a passion for living. But for me the spiritual world, the beginning and the end is too complex and beyond human knowledge to define in the pages of a book written by man.
7. I hate trendy brands. Seriously, no shits given about a Michael Kors bag, Ray Ban sunglasses, Jordan's, or True Religion jeans.

ashleysirmans Switched to plant based protein about 3 months ago and it makes a load of difference. Just from my experience with it, I'm seeing more gains, my recovery is faster, energy levels are great, agility performance has improved. Not saying that whey protein can't give you that. But cutting dairy (including whey) out of my diet I have seen more of an improvement in my overall muscle definition and digestion. There are plenty of studies out there that weigh the pros and cons of whey protein. For me having more of a plant based diet and cutting dairy out already, the whey protein had to go. Either way, the best source of protein would be through whole foods regardless. And to be honest most people don't know the difference between whey, soy, plant, hemp, rice or egg protein. They generally go off of whatever syntha 6, GNC brand, muscle milk, mysofusion flavored crap the gym rats are drinking. ashleysirmans 1. "I don't know how you find the time to workout. I'm always so busy." -Wow, talking about condescending. Like every other human, people who are into fitness have 24 hours a day which consists of multiple commitments, responsibilities and chores. It's about making the time.
2. "You look great but the muscular look is just not for me." -This one is usually directed at girls and all I have to say is, I'll design my body according to my wishes.
3. "You look healthy now, but don't get any skinner." -What is the purpose of this statement? Who died and made you the healthy police? What makes you think you can dictate what looks healthy, skinny, fit, and fat for other people? You better have the ultimate designer body if you are coming at me with those kind of statements.
4. "Don't understand why you're so into this, you don't need to lose weight." Have you ever considered that skinny isn't the goal? How about fit, how about healthy, how about self-confidence? Mind your business.
5. "If you keep losing weight you won't have any booty left." Look not everyone wants a Kim K or Niki Minaj ass *gasp* Its about an end result, there is no such thing as spot treatment.
