  •   marctm26 Beautiful hall & great shot! 8mon
  •   ariny4 Thank you @marctm26! 8mon
  •   jennyflemingo That's right next to my flat! Can you just walk in? 7mon
  •   ariny4 @jennyflemingo I don't think you can just walk in unfortunately... I was there for a Midcentury Modern show, you have to pay to get in, but it is something like £5 if booked in advance. @midcentury_modern usually announce the shows on their feed, next one is in October, I think :) 7mon
  •   jennyflemingo I didn't think so as its a school, but ever the hopeful I thought o would ask! Awesome, thanks for the info 7mon

ariny4 Been very busy lately and had no time to post, but glad to be back with this shot of Haggerston School where I went for the Midcentury Modern Show, great opportunity to see/buy midcentury furniture and at the same time glance at Ernö Goldfinger's creation, it's a shame that only the entrance hall has stayed intact, but still nice to wonder around other parts of the school

  •   icandy_uk Great shot, keep it up! 9mon
  •   foresthillbilly Ha! I grew up there... Thought it looked familiar 9mon
  •   ariny4 Thank you @icandy_uk 9mon
  •   ariny4 Whoa @foresthillbilly do you know anything about this particular building? I fails to find any information :( 9mon
  •   foresthillbilly @ariny4 not really. They were built a little later than the WaterGardens apartment complex just behind. May have been built by Wates I think same as the other nearby townhouses. They have always been privately owned and if I remember correctly they were sold on very long leases like 999 years or something I may be wrong though 9mon
  •   ariny4 @foresthillbilly I thought that they were somehow related to the Water Gardens! This is a good starting point for the research, thanks! Do you remember by any chance if Water Gardens were always gated up or back in the days access was easier for non-residents? 9mon
  •   foresthillbilly @ariny4 I vaguely remember mum and using the water gardens as a short cut and I have no recollection of them being gated. I think that would have happened in the last 10years. That whole area was redeveloped in the 60's. I was very young when we lived there so memories may be a bit hazy, but I'm pretty certain that there was some filming done outside with a celebrity of the day ( Peter Cook? Peter sellers ? Dudley Moore? Sitting cross legged on a post box. I think it may have been for a Beatles film (Help?) or some comedy. The houses are mainly inhabited by Saudi families now. 9mon

ariny4 Grade II listed Kingsley Court in Willesden. Block of 54 flats. 1933-4 by Peter Caspari for Davis Estates. This is one of the first blocks of flats in an expressionist style in England, and the first work here by Peter Caspari. 10mon
