arbel420 Recently read - Doctors by Dash Shaw. A break from the superheroes for a sec, a little book by super talented Dash Shaw. Shaw explores not only the storytelling of his plots but also the medium itself. He always creates SciFi stories that are located in the regular world. It's like when the fantastic meets the mundane. This short story is no different in that sense but it is in the way it's printed on various paper colors to create a mood for the scenes. Check it if you're into quirky weird stories 1w

arbel420 Tales Of The Batman - J.H. Williams III. A compilation of stories and art by J.H. Williams - some are better than others. The thing about Batman is (and I read a lot of batman), he is titled "the world's greatest detective" but this fucker always falls in a trap, can never see the "big picture" and he almost never understand his enemies' psyche. I keep reading the Batman books, I love the art and the villains but I'm taking a stand about how smart Bruce Wayne really is. If he didn't have his gadgets, his Alfred, his money and his friends he would have been dead long ago. And he's kinda of douch too. Long live Joker! 1w

arbel420 More recent reads - Fury from Marvel Max. Marvel Max is very explicit (just saying) - adult themes for sure. Violence, sex, drugs and "bad" language all over. This book tells us the rough history Nick Fury intermingled with real history and well known events. But unlike The Punisher Max book, this was far less interesting. Maybe because it was so "realistic". Wait, the CIA is involved with wars and drugs? Shocking. What? Nick Fury is addicted to war? Crazy. There was nothing we didn't know before. No surprises, no sharp turns or cliffhangers just a story about history. Cool book if you like history but don't know anything about it. 1w
  •   asteroid_hopkins Hmm, i have this one on my list for some time now....guess i'll start with Steranko's Fury then :/) 1w
  •   arbel420 @asteroid_hopkins you know, it's a question of taste. I'm not a comics critic, just writing my opinion. You might (or may?) enjoy it still. The writer and artists did an intensive research for this book and I respect that. The story is ok just not mind-blowing or anything. Keep cool! 1w
  •   asteroid_hopkins I wasn't sure about the series after i read the first issue, and a lot of people have the same opinion of the book as you :-) 1w
  •   arbel420 @asteroid_hopkins did you read The Punisher Max? Now, that was insane 1w
  •   asteroid_hopkins I've read a few issues. But You are right that was a crazy ride! 1w

arbel420 Another recently read - HULK Who Shot Bruce Banner. Ok, unlike He Flash, I've always loved The Hulk. He is probably my favorite character from the Marvel universe (hence, my favorite super being). The Hulk story IS dark. He is unlike any other character in the sense that he is not really a hero but a super being. This is a great book. Well drawn and well written. I can't wait to find what happened next because this book is suspenseful and beginning of a new road for The Hulk and Banner. 1w

arbel420 More recent reads- The Flash (from the new 52). Growing up I was never a DC fan. I liked the art on some of the characters but never got caught by their stories. They always seemed boring to me. The Flash was certainly not on my radar. Reading the New 52, I understand why. This guy is boring. Even when they tried to revamp him with a darker past and darker stories it is still, for a lack of a better term, too flashy. The stories are so boring, the villains are idiotic and the character is so blend I read these guys so fast (no pun intended) just to get it over with. Saying that, I do love the design of The Flash. I think it's one of the best super hero character design ever and the new Flash is awesomely drawn. The books too - very detailed art and great panel distribution and layout. But even those couldn't save these books. I don't see myself reading anymore Flash soon....๏ธ๏ธ๏ธ๏ธ 1w

arbel420 Recently read: BATMANGA. This is a compilation of the japanese style batman by Jiro Kuwata. I was excited to find it in the library because I think the whole idea is cool BUT, after reading it, I was a bit disappointed. The plot lines are silly (because, let's face it, back then Batman WAS kinda silly). All the badguys look more or less the same and the stories are super thin. And even though some of the characters are morbid, I would file this under "for kids"... Still, it is interesting to see for its historical and sociological value if nothing else. 1w

arbel420 Recently read. The Manhattan Project. Very cool and crazy book. You heard about the real Manhattan Project? Well, apparently, we don't know much. This a history spin-off with scientists as the super heroes and supper villains. Great detailed art, funny grotesque writing. Nazis, aliens, science, action - everything you need from a comic book. Check it out. 1w
