approaching_joy Portland Sunday 3w
  •   jackiewolven Can we just run away and live in Portland? 3w
  •   seelauriewrite I used to think I was in love with #Portland. I dumped him for the #oregoncoast :) 3w
  •   approaching_joy @seelauriewrite @jackiewolven we've been in the Columbia gorge all day and we're to the coast tomorrow. I'm thinking nature is where it's at. Says the girl who hardly takes part in Arkansas nature. 3w
  •   seelauriewrite It's too damned hot in Arkansas nature!! I like nature that requires a jacket. :) Have FUN! I highly recommend the beach at Lincoln City. 3w

approaching_joy Not my favorite.
Not my favorite.
Not my favorite...
3w
  •   knitosophy Denial? 3w
  •   approaching_joy @knitosophy not really. They actually ARENT my favorite (Give me savory/salty any day.) & I always feel "bleh" after eating them. But I always seem to forget that when I happen to pass by a donut counter when I'm the least bit hungry. 3w
  •   approaching_joy @knitosophy this is also the reason I make it a point not to stop by a donut counter if I can possibly help it. 3w
  •   knitosophy Gotcha. 3w

approaching_joy Do you believe in "personal seasons"? A time to reap // a time to sew? A time to work // a time to rest? A time to listen // a time to speak?
I feel like I'm shrinking into a resting // watching // quiet season... Or am I just being lazy?
3w
  •   lwoltermckinley I completely do. There are definite seasons in our lives. @approaching_joy 3w
  •   parscaeli Absolutely seasonal here. 3w
  •   truebadourjess Totally. Soak up the resting/watching season. It's probably for you to learn something that will come in handy for a busy/reaping & sewing season. 3w
  •   eclecticakiddo Indeed! One of the hardest things for me about parenting is not really having the freedom to totally embrace the resting//creating//dreaming season I so totally love like I used to. Get with the season kids! 3w
  •   sarabethjones Seasons. FOR SURE. 3w
  •   thelittlecraftshow Seasons definitely occur for our sanity. Take advantage of this time! 3w

approaching_joy Old books have my heart. 4w
  •   _lourab_ Mine too. So much so that it bothers me when people use them for diy projects. 4w
  •   astoriedstyle Me too! @approaching_joy And I totally agree @_lourab_ 4w
  •   approaching_joy @_lourab_ @astoriedstyle I did not know that such DIYs were happening. Ugh... A shame. 4w
  •   tagandtibby I know some people who use them for diys..they only repurpose if the books are falling apart. In that sense, they are sort of saving history 4w
  •   approaching_joy @tagandtibby good point. My grandparents had this awesome library that (sadly) was hardly ever touched I.e. Exquisite condition. Most of my old book references are from that perspective. Good reminder. 4w
  •   sarahdshotts Gorgeous! 4w

approaching_joy Today I called the SARK inspiration line because that's the type of day this is. At the end of the message she reads the poem "Peonies" by Mary Oliver and it kind of broke my soul. In a "wow" way. So, obviously, I googled that shit and printed it out for all the world to see. Well, all the world that happens to come by my desk at work (which is actually more people than I ever thought possible but that's a totally different post). Anyway, yay for people that take the time to look at the world and wrote poems. The world is a better place because you exist. 4w

approaching_joy I would estimate that we are about a week away from the mailman putting a complaint in our mailbox about our monster vines which means we're about 4 weeks away fr the beginning of autumn. All based on history of monster vines complaints in the past.
