angiepillars Yummy Baked Ziti for dinner tonight! You don't have to give up comfort foods when eating healthier.
Baked Ziti

1/2 box whole wheat pasta
1 red container of ricotta
1 jar of natural/clean marinara
1/2lb lean ground beef or turkey
1/2c Italian blend shredded cheese
1tbsp each of garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, oregano, basil, parsley & black pepper
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. Cook pasta until al-dente.
3. Brown meat & drain if necessary.
4. Combine ricotta, marinara, seasonings, ground beef & the drained noodles.
5. Stir until combined.
6. Pour into 9x13 pan.
7. Sprinkle with cheese & bake for 20-30 minuets, or until cheese is melty & bubbly.
Green container = 1 portion
Counts as 1 yellow, 1 red, 1 green, 1 blue

I added a few handfuls of chopped, sautéed spinach to up the veggie content a bit. Yum!

angiepillars And SHE SLEEPS!!! I know all you mamas out there can relate to the nap time mad dash. This little one usually takes 2 naps while her brother is at school. Today I have a lot to cram in to those 2 naps. laundry unload the dishwasher

Take a little help where you can get it!
I enjoy making some thing from scratch, but there are days I simply don't have the time. Sports practice, homework, sick kiddo - there are so many things that can keep us occupied.
Don't feel bad for getting a little help in the kitchen! But remember not all packaged food is equal.
ALWAYS read the label & look for the fewest ingredients & make sure you can pronounce them all. No fake foods here!

angiepillars When is the last time you did something that made you REALLY nervous? This is it for me. Opening up & being totally honest for anyone & everyone to see. A year ago I would NOT have posted this picture. Heck, even a month ago! I hate (yes that's a very strong word) having my picture taken.
Why? Because it shows the truth. It shows that over the last few years I have gotten further away from my goal weight instead of closer to it. I have hidden from cameras. I have hidden from friends. And I have hidden from myself. NO MORE!
After a year of trying & failing to get pregnant & then another year of continued fertility issues, miscarriage, medication & then finally a very trying pregnancy, I simply gave up. Mentally and emotionally I was exhausted. I didn't feel like I could put effort into anything, even something as important as my own health & fitness. Not anymore! No more excuses!
I'm sharing this for one reason - accountability! I'm not looking for attention or pity. I only need support! So you will be seeing more workout pics & food pics & anything else I find to share while on this journey.
If you need support & encouragement with wherever your are on your own personal journey, know that I am cheering you on!

I was going to start 21 Day Fix on Monday, but while making breakfast, I decided to start TODAY!
This meal isn't perfect. The tortillas aren't whole wheat, which is what the meal plan allows. Usually I would let this stop me. But I'm going for progress over perfection here!

angiepillars Busy Mom Tip ~ GET UP EARLIER!
This is one is almost painful for me! I am not a huge fan of waking up early. However, when I get up early I get so much more done!
The baby decided to wake up at 5am this morning. Way earlier than her usual 7:30. I got so much done before I had to take G to school. As much as I hate it, even getting 15-30 minutes before your kids can really make the day run so much smoother!

Mornings can be rough around our house. When I take the time to get a few things ready the night before it helps so much! Last night I laid out my workout clothes & G's school clothes before bed. Made the morning run slightly smoother!

angiepillars I have been clinging to this lately! .
Have you ever become so lost in your mom-ness that you forgot who you were before kids? Do you remember that girl? .
I have to be totally honest, I have lost myself somewhere along the way the last several years. I have stopped taking care of me. I have stopped making myself a priority. It's taken me a long time to realize that I was not myself anymore. I found myself grumpy, moody & complaining ALL the time. And honestly it's no fun being that person. It's no fun for my husband & children to be around & it's no fun for me to either. .
I have a long way to go. I have a lot of work to do. So I've made a plan. 1) eat nutritious, healthy food 2) exercise 30 minutes a day 3) read more 4) take 1 hour each week to do something just for me, even if it's something very small. .
Me being healthy is the best gift I can give my family! Being able to take care of them to the best of my ability is my top priority. .
I'm sharing with y'all for two reasons. One - accountability. I need all the help & encouragement I can get! Two - because I know I'm not the only mom who has experienced this. If you can relate, please know you are NOT alone!

angiepillars Anyone else have a little chaos going in the mornings??? Today I had just enough time to get around, throw my Shakeology in the cup, herd my kidlet into the truck & make it to school on time. And of course I forgot an important paper I needed to bring with me.
Tomorrow morning is a chance to try again though! I will conquer my morning madness!
