andyespinozaart Detail of "Salome" by Henri Regnault (1843 - 1871) at the @metmuseum 2d
  •   theonides I read that he enlarged the canvas after painting the portrait? Attaching his finished painting to a larger canvas and continued with the rest of the figure - were you able to see the seam marks? 1d
  •   hrrr66 Wow wow wow 1d
  •   andyespinozaart @theonides yes it was enlarged. There is a notable line across the bottom third of the piece, across her knee caps. I assume that is where he added on. The signage by the piece also references the added bottom section. 1d

andyespinozaart The only reason I visited the MoMA was to see one painting by Andrew "The Man" Wyeth (1917 - 2009). Christina's World (1948) 4d

andyespinozaart Visiting the Illustration House in NY. This is a detail of a Robert Fawcett (1903 - 1967) piece. Several years ago I visited the Illustration house and Walt Reed was kind enough to open for me even though they were closed on that day. After he learned I was an illustration student he asked me to name a few artists off the top of my head. I mentioned Pyle and Leyendecker and he returned with a few paintings of theirs and handed them to me. I was blown away that I was holding their paintings in my hand. I'll never forget that visit. RIP Walt 6d
  •   xtyrestormx That's an adventure I'd love to go on. I had a similar experience at the Milwaukee art museum print and drawing archive. The lady found out I did stone litho and intaglio and she came back with an arm load of artist proof and a couple of plate for me to drool over. The behind the scenes art museums are always way more fun than the public showings. 6d
  •   vincent_nappi Fawcett! Great story, Andy. You touched greatness! 5d

andyespinozaart A piece by Mark English. Sorry for the spam but the good folks at the Illustration Academy and @bcappliedarts asked that I share about a portfolio contest they are holding now. Looks like they are giving away a Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Medium Tablet. Check out the @bcappliedarts profile to find out how to take part. The folks at the Illustration Academy taught me alot and I wouldn't mention them as often as I do if I didn't believe in their summer workshop. 2w
