andyespinozaart A few people have been emailing me lately about schools or workshops I'd recommend. I figured I'd make a post to save time. Id recommend checking out the summer illustration academy workshop in Kansas City. Great group of illustrators and painters that take you through 6 weeks of intensive work to understand the picture making process. As far as a school goes I'd take a look at @bcappliedarts . It's a new online school run by the same teachers who run the illustration academy. They have an Instagram contest going on for a free class with Sterling Hundley. Hope that helps! Picture is of Mark English giving a demo at the Illustration Academy. 2mon
  •   vincent_nappi Those few weeks every summer were always the highlight of my year. Incredible teachers, driven and skilled students. 2mon
  •   davidhohnillo Illustration academy changed the way I worked. I would recommend it to anybody. 2mon
  •   ntbutcherart @andyespinozaart What about 4 year illustration schools? There seems to be no information on the Internet other then disgruntled drop outs that say it's all a waste of money. Or is that true? Please help! Haha 2mon
  •   andyespinozaart @ntbutcher hi Nick, that's a good question. I went to a 4 year school, that had at the time, a highly regarded illustration program. It was OK but in the end was not worth the massive price it came with. Afterwards I went to a similar program as bcppliedarts (same instructors) and attended the illustration academy in the summer and I learned more there than I did at the first school. Some artists just study on their own, others attend workshops, and many others go through a long curriculum either online or at a brick and mortar school. There is no right answer except to do your research and look long and hard at specific programs you're considering. Contact the instructors or students/graduates that attended that specific program and ask about their experience. And never take the costs lightly. A mistake can haunt you for a long time if you can't afford it. Ask certain artists how they went about education and what they'd do differently if they could. The information can be valuable if you speak to sincere artists. Hope that helps! 2mon
  •   florenciamir @andyespinozaart thank you so much!! 2mon
