andrewmiller07 A lot of times, in the midst of a long or difficult hike, I can completely forget to look up until I reach the end of the trail. I get hyper focused on the trail itself and forget about whats around me. I wonder how much I've missed out on seeing from simply looking up. 13h

andrewmiller07 My family has been vacationing in Colorado since I was in elementary school. I remember the sensation of seeing the mountains for the first time from the back seat of our Chevy Astro Van after being on the road for so long. The sensation of leaving the mountains when our trip was over is still the same. Ive always wanted to live amongst towering peaks and majestic Ponderosa Pines and that goal always seemed so far away. But leaving this time comes with the promise of returning to the rockies in 3 weeks, this time to call them home. 3d

andrewmiller07 Not every day in the mountains is sunny. Today's hike to Hope Lake at 11,906ft was soggy, cold, windy and undeniably beautiful. Sometimes a little rain on your parade can be a good thing. 3d

andrewmiller07 Bushwhacking on Oak Creek Trail, Ouray, Colorado.
Now, about that blue hat. @senderohatco asked me to be an ambassador for their brand a few weeks ago and I jumped on the opportunity. Their mission statement, "Spirit of the West, Soul of the Wild" rings true in everything they stand for. They've partnered with a few National Parks on a new series of hats that will benefit conservation efforts and the overall protection of many of the lands we all love. If you're looking for a unique, incredibly well constructed hat, and a company that cares about more than a profit, your search stops here.

  •   bethebean66 I'm looking for both actually. But, for this, maybe just a day pack? Heading to Yosemite again in a couple weeks. Doing mainly day stuff. 4d
  •   ryderpete Gah I love your stuff! One of my favorite follows on here 4d
  •   andrewmiller07 @ryderpete seriously!?! Ah, you made my day. Its always humbling to hear that people enjoy the perspective I share! 3d
  •   elishka91 @kmbarcelo let's gooooo 1d
  •   masonboring Yess! How's the pack? 1d
  •   andrewmiller07 @masonboring hey dude!! Well, i've had the thing for a few years and cant bring myself to get rid of it. Its the old Stratos 24. As far as a daypack goes, its solid. If you use it with an @ospreypacks reservoir, which I do, there will be a lot less than 24L for stuff on the inside. Thats my biggest complaint. The pros are, an excellent external frame that keeps your back nearly sweat free, big hip pockets, good size top pockets and super comfortable shoulder straps. Im sure there's way nicer day packs out there, but this one hasn't shown any signs of wear after 4+ years so its not goin anywhere anytime soon! 1d
  •   visitcolorado @andrewmiller07 Love the photo! It's been showcased in our official #ColoradoLive experience. Check it out from the link in our bio! 14h
  •   andrewmiller07 @visitcolorado oh wow! Thank you so much! This Texan is a huge fan of the great state of Colorado! 🏻️ 13h

andrewmiller07 Today was a brutal day of hiking. Let me preface that by saying im out of shape and definitely not acclimated yet.
But today's hike on Oak Creek Trail just outside of Ouray, CO let me be creative, take some risk, and have that post hike pizza I was craving all the way down the mountain.
The off trail scramble down to this point of the breathtaking Oak Creek falls was super sketchy. The sides of the gorge were steep and unforgiving. It felt good to get out of my comfort zone, get off the trail and earn this shot. #coloradical

andrewmiller07 Home is where you pitch it, Texas Edition.
If the first light of day doesnt wake you, the heat sure will. It was about 80 degrees at 7:30am. Good thing the Devils River was close by. #adventureanywhere

andrewmiller07 Seeing Dolan Falls before I leave Texas was high on my bucket list. I thought I'd take it up a notch and backflip into its crisp, cool waters to make it extra special. #funhogging 2w

andrewmiller07 This is my good friend, Sami. She's a guide this summer and has paddled countless miles of the Pecos and Devils river, hiked even more miles in the Hill Country and never fails to have a smile on her face. It was awesome to see her in her element, dive bombing the cliffs of Dolan Falls. #postthepeople 2w

I almost didn't take this photo. But lets back up. I almost didn't go on this last minute micro adventure to the Devils River. On Saturday my buddy Adam asked me to tag along and take some photos of @campeaglewilderness students as they came off a 16 mile paddle trip, ending just north of Dolan Falls. My initial reaction was foolishly "no", but after some thought, I came to the realization that I may never have the chance to see and enjoy this remote, pristine piece of the country again.
I woke myself up at 12:30 this morning, prime time for milky way views under some of Americas darkest skies. It took me a while to get to sleep, (it was about 75 degrees all night) so waking up wasn't easy. But I rubbed my sleepy eyes and set the camera up, in awe of what lay overhead.
Im glad I didn't say "no" to either of these opportunities. Its a flaw of mine to let comfort control me, but last night helped me realize being uncomfortable can be rewarding. (Bonus points if you can spot the Dark Horse nebula ) #letscamp

andrewmiller07 In one very short month, I'll no longer call Texas home. The Nueces river wont be a short walk through the live oak away and I'll have to trade in my love of bass for trout. (Which isn't a bad thing) i've been fishing about every night since my wife and I made the decision to head west. Its a great way to clear my mind, be peaceful and reflect. Each night it gets a little harder to come to grips with the imminent change. But home is what you make it and Im glad Ive got that figured out ahead of time. Hashtag blessed. 3w

andrewmiller07 The fine folks over at @theoutbound were gracious enough to share my first adventure; Hiking to the McKittrick Ridge Campground in the backcountry of @guadalupemountainsnps
Go read all about how to get there and do this awesome trek yourself! #letscamp

andrewmiller07 This announcement comes with a 5 gallon bucket full of mixed emotions. Last week I accepted a job at @glorietacamps just outside Santa Fe, NM. I'll be their lead graphic designer. Lisa and I are extremely excited for this new chapter in our lives, but leaving Texas and the community we've built over the last 2 years here at @campeagletx (where we met and currently work/live) will not be easy. The words of a dear friend have echoed in my mind, "Growth is never easy, and its almost always messy". Im looking forward growth in a host of different ways and to living at the foothills of the Southern Rockies where the Sangre De Christio Mountains are literally right in our backyard. Texas has been my home for the most formidable years of my life and I'm forever grateful for it. I found my wife here, I've turned a passion into a career here, and many of my closest friends are here. I hope this isn't the last time we'll call the lone star state home. Land of Enchantment, here we come! 4w
