andreamful For different reasons, our family is scattered around the world during the holidays: Colombia (split in two cities), Canada, the U.S., Poland, Botswana, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and the Philippines. Making the best of it with a little help from the internet. We've had Skype calls, Facetimed, sent and received photos and videos, exchanged Facebook messages, had chats on Whatsapp, and tried for half and hour -and failed- to call a cellphone in Manila. Thankful for reliable Internet connections these past few days. 3d

andreamful It looks like this might be the last Christmas believing in Santa One of his school friends already told him "Santa doesn't exist" and when he saw Santa at a party, he was disappointed to see "just a guy with a Santa costume". I don't know why this makes me so sad, but it does. Christmas is so much better when Santa is real! I was traumatized when I found out so I'm not looking forward to that conversation lol Do you remember when you found out? #christmasgram #onthetable #livethelittlethings 3w
  •   andreamful @shestall same here so I know that feeling of seeing them hold on to it even though they've been told it's not true. It's so heart breaking!! 3w
  •   andreamful @iamkatedb I'm going to tell B the same thing!!! Also, I texted you a few days ago, but today I realized it was probably an old number I had?? I had you as two different contacts. Anyway, going to copy and paste it now to the other one 3w
  •   andreamful @laurabeardwood haha I am going to do some friendly bribing here too lol From what I see in this thread, tons of parents do it... You don't believe in Santa, you won't get presets 3w
  •   andreamful @letargia hahaha my parents were also not the best, but I guess I was just really naive 3w
  •   andreamful @thewojos oh, dear. We don't do anything other than Santa... No Easter bunny and still don't know if we will do tooth fairy. I guess if he knows by then about Santa, he won't be fooled about the tooth fairy. I think it's just natural curiosity to question everything, including God. I know I went through that phase too. It feels good, though, to have questioned it (as I had been taught about it) and then finally get to the conclusion, all on my own, that I do totally believe in God. It felt more like my decision and less like a decision someone made for me, you know what I mean? Maybe that the case with your teen. 3w
  •   thewojos Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this matter. Yup, I do want him to figure it out himself. It would be more heartfelt and meaningful. It's just shocking to hear that from your child. I've raised them by showing God's love and kindness and not about fear like I was raised. So it was quite perplexing. About Santa, we've told them as you get older, moms and dads have to help Santa with gifts. We think they buy it, but who knows. They do still go to bed early and get ready for Santa's arrival. We all grow up knowing there's no Santa, yet that magical thought of Santa amuses us and reminds us of the imagination and hope that childhood brings. It's a nice reminder. 2w
  •   abjane17 Aw, no! B is wayyyyy too young. I haven't read all of the comments, but search for "letter to your kids about Santa" on Pinterest. It's wonderful. But my parents always said that kids only get presents if they believe. I don't remember ever really finding out...just figuring it out little by little. When I was B's age, or even a few years older, and heard other kids say Santa wasn't real, I didn't want to listen! It bugs me so much that kids ruin it for other kids. I never felt traumatized...but my husband says he did. (But he was traumatized/emotionally scarred by EVERYTHING in his childhood ) 2w
  •   claudiavdbroek It is a pity when the magic is gone. My children keep asking me about Santa. I always tell them he goes to other countries, and that we buy the presents under the tree. Here we have Sinterklaas. Will have to tell our girl before next time. 2w

andreamful A close-up of the #shelfie I posted yesterday. I told B I made this painting and he said: "were you going to write 'like', but ran out of ink?" I can't stop seeing an unfinished "like" after he said that! #creativityfound 3w

andreamful After a few house updates and the stress that comes with that, I'm glad to see things coming together in our home. We still have a few things pending like finding some dining chairs and tiling the kitchen (and updating our peach bathrooms ), but all in all, it's starting to feel more "us" and less like the sixty year old man who used to live here before us and who had an obsession with tinted strip club mirrors #makinghome #shelfie 4w
