amazing_syd This one is for all my fellow comic geeks - who saw the Ant-Man Teaser the other night? I'm totally diggin Andy Park's design for this suit. Here's the rough pencil stage of a screen grab from the trailer. Inks and Prismacolor pencils are next! 5mon

amazing_syd Fun little study I did of @segoviaamil using acrylic and pencils on cardboard. Have a great weekend :) 5mon
  •   amazing_syd @kaiokamele thanks for the comment! i too, share some struggles with using traditional mediums, but I've been having fun experimenting. Your problem with smudging, do you work flat or upright on an easel? I tend to utilize both positions depending on the project. While I'm working flat, I use an extra piece of paper to cover certain areas where my hand might rest, or if I want paint splatters to only go in certain areas. As far as shadows and highlights, again, it all depends on the project, but often than not, I will start with medium tones to block out the shadows and lighter areas, and then I'll go in the the really darks and save the highlights for last - or as I like to call them, the 'icing on the cake'. I've been looking into perhaps filming a time lapse video for those who are curious, but feel free to PM or email me with any questions! Always happy to help :) 5mon

  •   kaiokamele Hooray, that's actually the same pattern I follow. I tend to work on a table, unless I'm doing a purely acrylic painting, which I haven't done in a long time. However, you have a very unique eye, and most of what art is, to me, is the ability to see. Putting down what you see after that is secondary. And you see remarkable things. 5mon
  •   chamchami_chongthu Its amazing 5mon

  •   arloft The light and shadow on this piece, on her face, it's fantastic @amazing_syd! How've you been man? Still killin' it on the art board 5mon
  •   arloft I need to follow your tumblr, it's shameful I haven't yet! 5mon
  •   amazing_syd @arloft hey Aaron! Happy new year. things are good. Trying to stay busy - the holidays had me in a lull for a bit, but I should be back in full force soon. How about you? Thanks for keeping up with my work man 5mon
  •   arloft Happy new year to you too man! Xmas is always crazy busy for me with work stuff. I'm pushing myself to create more art in 2015, get back to my "roots"; that and accomplishing some real progress on making my own toys. I post as often as I can make art progress; if you're interested in seeing what I'm working on, I'd be honored for you to follow my IG & tumbler. The link's in my IG bio. I'll check out your blog tonight. .. I'm happy to keep up with your art, it's awesome. I dig the monochrome style you use. Color's great but it's delivering that strong shading and realism in a limited palette is a challenge in itself. 5mon
