amandabouzakine Finally unpacking our bags from vacation and doing allll the laundry. But I keep thinking back to last week and how Caleb was such a great travel buddy. We had our share of whining and crying and frustrations (of course!) but considering all the missed naps, stretched out feedings, meeting new people, and general chaos, this boy did amazing. He was the main attraction every morning during breakfast at our bed and breakfast. He learned an appreciation for riding in the car seat (turns out he quite enjoys it when he's not bundled with blankets and can play with his feet). He flirted with almost every sever when we were out to eat, and we had so many fellow diners tell us he's such a happy baby (this was a huge change in Mr. Senator's public personality.). Taras and I could tell that Caleb reached a new developmental milestone at the beginning of the trip - talking and smiling more, rolling over and over and over, and being able to hold his own if we missed a nap - and that growth spurt seemed to give him the confidence he needed to thrive during our week away. Have I mentioned yet that he's a giant now?! He is. I'm really, really loving this stage and how much Caleb makes his dada and I smile every day. Now we've just gotta re-sleep train him (because you better believe we survived the nights after the chaotic days by letting him sleep in bed with us and nurse to his heart's content). But first, we're waiting for the end of his first real sickness that he picked up on vacation. He's being such a trooper with his old man cough and runny nose! 7h

amandabouzakine It's turned chilly and rainy in these parts, but that's okay. 1w

amandabouzakine I blinked and now I have a seven month old. During this past month Caleb has grown so much, especially in the past week. After a recent growth spurt, I swear he's nearly too heavy for me to carry. He's really found his voice lately and babbles until he can't babble anymore. So many times in the last days, Taras and I just look at each other in awe. Amazed we have been blessed with such a joyful, lively, sweet baby boy (who seems more boy than baby with every passing day). Often, I find myself wishing I could freeze time and savor a particular moment forever. He loves to wiggle his booty to music, squealing like a pterodactyl, giving me giant open-mouthed kisses all over my face, eating pears (and his feet!), trying to wave "hi," and babbling like a crazy man when we let him get over-tired. Happy seven months, muffin! 1w

amandabouzakine More palm trees. More blue skies. More sunshine. Me and my boys are savoring every last drop of the vitamin d. And I'm just giddy showing Caleb around my college town! 1w

amandabouzakine At dusk we left behind a snow-covered Boston. We'll be spending the next week showing baby Caleb his mama's homeland. And getting our fill of Sonny's BBQ, Publix subs, and chick-fil-a. Yay for Florida! 2w

amandabouzakine You'll never believe it: IT'S SNOWING ... and it snowed yesterday... and... you get the idea. I'm currently packing us up for a week in Florida. Looking forward to a few days of *not* seeing mounds of snow around every corner. 2w

amandabouzakine Is it Friday yet? Teething baby. An epic diaper blowout. Our house fire alarm woke us up early this morning and, even after confirming our house was fire-free, it was impossible to fall back to sleep. And more snow (how is it even possible to have this much snow?). #sendcoffee #andwine 3w

amandabouzakine We're working on week two of being cooped up inside. The snow is... snowy. And the cold is... cold. Add a supersized-portion of snow and cold, and that's what it's like in these parts. But despite the cabin fever, I think I'm finally hitting my stride with this stay-at-home mama stuff. And that feels good. It only took six+ months, ha! And this picture! He does smile wide for the camera now but this little smirk just makes me want to eat him up. Also, I posted a blog post for the first time this year, link in profile. 4w

amandabouzakine Saturday mornings are for family breakfast dates. Get this: Caleb is still super serious around strangers and the waitresses at breakfast were determined to make him smile. They'd work so hard for a smile, then give up and walk away. Every time, Caleb would turn to us and give a huge smile, just as the waitresses turned away. I think he has quite the sense of humor. 1mon

amandabouzakine Learning there's no such thing as a sick day for a mama! But the husband did come home a couple hours early to watch bèbè while I took a detox bath: dry brush then jump in a bath filled with 1/2 cup baking soda + 1/4 Epsom salt + 10 drops lavender essential oil. Be sure to hydrate! Also, drinking all the hot tea with fresh lemon juice and fresh ginger root, for vitamin c and to help inflammation. What's your go-to remedy when you feel under the weather? 1mon
  •   carley623 Ooh, I'll have to try this. We swallow raw garlic. It's a natural antibiotic. 1mon
  •   amandabouzakine @carley623 I always forget about garlic. But maybe I'll skip that while breastfeeding? 1mon
  •   carley623 It's actually good for breastfeeding. They like the taste and it encourages strong feeds. It's one of the natural things they recommend when women get mastitis. 1mon
  •   amandabouzakine @carley623 good to know!! I woulda thought the flavor would be too strong, in a bad way! 1mon

amandabouzakine More blizzard day vibes. The snow is unreal - mounds of the stuff is covering our yard and deck. This room has skylights that are completely darkened and buried under the snow. The plow left behind a giant mound of snow in front of our house and the neighbors are out there sledding on it! 1mon

amandabouzakine Blizzard day vibes. Stay warm and safe, Northeastern friends. We're cozied up near the fire, watching Caleb scoot around the floor, and listening to the wind gust outside. It's finally bright enough to see the snow falling out there! 1mon
