amandabouzakine Our little muffin turned nine months old yesterday. This ninth month has been full of joy AND frustration. Caleb has been testing boundaries, and it seems like I'm telling him "gentle," "no," and "ouchie" just as often as I'm telling him I love him. He's on the go and gets into everything - it's fun to watch him gain confidence and spread his wings. He "crawls" but his form is more like that of a scoot... he gets everywhere fast, though! He says "ma" instead of "mama" and it's the sweetest sound I've ever heard (especially when he says it repeatedly as he scoots over to me from across the room). He has a total of four teeth and has been learning "no bite" when he nurses (oy!). He is still serious and skeptical around strangers, but energetic and hilarious and silly for us - so we often call him a "ham sandwich." He loves to mimic movements we make with our hands and tries hard to mimic sounds - his best tricks so far are waving, clapping, and telling us what sound the car makes (there's lots of drool involved with that one). He's determined to walk and practices often, even standing on his own for bits of time and letting go of one hand when we walk around with him. It's amazing to see his skills and personality develop every day, and it's fun chasing him around the house and watching him play. BUT this month has been one that's required Taras and I to start making real-life parenting decisions, to be consistent with how we teach Caleb right from wrong, and has been a constant lesson in patience as I try to calmly show Caleb "gentle" for the millionth time, as he pulls out a chunk of my hair. It really is the best - all of it. Especially the cuddles. Those will always be my favorite. 2d

amandabouzakine Caleb has said "mama" a couple times in the past month, but this week he started saying it consistently, and it's clear that he knows "ma" (or "mum" as it sometimes sounds) is my name. I keep trying to put into words how I feel - because I want to remember this forever - but I can't adequately explain the way my heart feels like it's bursting. It is such an honor to be his mama. My heart - It's so full. 4d

amandabouzakine Caleb and his adoring fans. My whole family was together this weekend and it was so nice. And Taras and I reaped the benefits of traveling with grandparents - we got some alone time + changed way fewer diapers than usual. 5d

amandabouzakine Caleb takes on NYC. And don't let that skeptical face of his fool you! He loved every minute of his time here (and flirted with every lady at dinner tonight.) #heartbreaker 6d

amandabouzakine First family run is in the books! For all you mamas and papas looking for a running stroller, we got a Graco Relay and we couldn't be happier (tip: at the time we ordered, the blue one on amazon was about $100 less than the other colors). We originally wanted a Bob (of course!) but didn't want to shell out all that money for a new one... and used ones on craigslist were like mythical creatures that were always sold before we could get to them. But, so far, no regrets with this Graco! 2w

amandabouzakine It snowed last night. And again this morning. And this sweet boy is teething. So, basically, I'm staying in sweat pants, we're not leaving the house, and we're spending a lottt of time snuggling in bed. 2w

amandabouzakine Today was a win all around. It was a steamy 62 degrees, the warmest temperature since we've lived in our new home. All the mamas and papas and kiddos were out in the neighborhood this afternoon and evening and it seriously feels like life has started anew in these parts. Spring, we feel you! (Now, if only all the snow would finish melting...) And the hubs got home early enough to walk to dinner before Caleb's bedtime and I got to eat that delicious bowl of pasta. So, yeah, a very good day! 3w

amandabouzakine Today we had a pre-Easter brunch with the fam. And Caleb had his first encounter with the bunny. 🐇He didn't make this face the whole time, but it's too good not to share! 4w

amandabouzakine Still waking up this morning. Today, I'm thankful for fresh starts. Let's say that, while yesterDAY was awesome, last night was... not. I was impatient and frustrated and totally lost my cool as baby C pushed our limits until he finally fell asleep at 9pm(?!?!). It is HARD to do the same job from 6am to 9pm. I miiiight have ended the night with a few tears + chocolate. But all is well + fresh + new this morning as I picked up a sweet, babbling babe from his crib. 1mon
  •   hoggerandco Aww... Sounds rough. Hardest job, isn't that what they say??? 1mon
  •   hoggerandco Still pretty tho! 1mon
  •   nadeenaportraits Aw. I'm sorry. My sister is a new mom (they're living with us right now). I see first hand how..demanding babies can be and how much patience it requires. Don't be hard on yourself. One day at a time, like you say :). 1mon
  •   amandabouzakine @nadeenaportraits such much patience, haha! It was my weakest personality trait pre-baby, so now I'm getting a daily lesson in alllll the patience! 1mon
  •   thirteenfoureighttwo @amandabouzakine ...i was wondering if i was the only Bad mom who waits for the day to finally rest and night to creep in so i can just lay awhile when suddenly the night awakenings with uncontrollable crying happens and more so when growing up baby or so called toddler resisting sleep, tantrums happen and dragging sleep time till no limits.... i just wana say....hey mom.....dont worry!!!all will be fine!!!its just a stage!!!you are not alone...all the moms are with you.... 4w

amandabouzakine Today baby Caleb turned eight months old and he seems more like a toddler than a baby with every passing day. He is strong and curious and happy and serious and smart and silly and brave and cautious and thoughtful and sometimes sensitive and sometimes naughty. He understands when he has an audience and he will ham it up. He's starting to understand "no" and seems to be testing limits. He loves to eat. He still wants to stand all day, every day -- and he has even started to let go of whatever is keeping him balanced. He likes having a schedule, with regular naps and feedings. He's not always a go-with-the-flow baby, but he's becoming more flexible with age. He loves other babies and kids. He's learning to clap and has mostly conquered waving "hi!". He has a hard time being separated from mama. He adores his dada. He's great at cuddling, but has become so active that the cuddles are less these days. He makes a lot of word sounds, though we have yet to agree that he's said his first real word (but dada, baby, hi, and ball are all on the tip of his tongue). He brings us unending joy - we are so thankful that he is ours. 1mon

amandabouzakine Annnnd then, a noodle date with the husband at @anjunoodlebar. Today we just ate + frolicked and it was a very much needed chilled-out Saturday. I'm hoping the spring brings with it more of these days. 1mon

amandabouzakine Spent this fine, snowy spring morning in Boston. Dare I admit the snow was actually pretty? But here's hoping it was the last snow of the season! Also, yay for brunch + friends + a very happy birthday to @pennquinn19! 1mon

amandabouzakine Yesterday it snowed. BUT, today is was all sunshine and blue skies. And then the husband took a half day off work, and then my parents came to watch baby Caleb, and then we had a late lunch date! We're finding it harder to get away for dates with all the house projects (and life and etc.) that have been going on, so this date was very much needed. I might be the first to ever say this, but: YAY for Monday! 1mon
