allthelivelongday At some point this afternoon my husband casually informed me that he was thinking about cooking toad-in-the-hole for dinner. Making it for the first time. And then he only went and created this gorgeous beast. Best Yorkshire pudding I have ever, ever tasted. He can cook more now, I think. 2d

allthelivelongday Breakfast for lunch. We call this "Fischerfrühstück" in Germany. A fisher's breakast. Fried potatoes with scrambled eggs and brown shrimp. And an obligatory pickle and parsley garnish. Had to think of my Papa, he always orders this at restaurants. 2d

allthelivelongday Would you look at these. After yesterday's failed non-browning, non-rising buns, I tried again today and out came six absolute beauts. This time, I used the recipe out of the Great British Book of Baking, which was a total winner. Sorry, River Cottage. I also sat under a blanket on the sofa, with the dough bowl and then the tray of buns in my lap, watching one of my favourite German TV shows. I think the extra love and cosiness must have helped with the proving. Oh, and they taste quite nice, too. Very happy! 3d
