alijart Painting by night light. Wish I had the energy to do this every night but to be honest.... It's freezing outside! 14h

alijart Love all the colours!! Most of these were clearance paints at Bunnings. I am happy that my addiction to collecting colours of paint can now be justified. 23h

alijart All setup and ready to start painting my dog kennel for the upcoming RSPCA Kennel auction in Perth at the Million Paws walk on May 17th. Can you guess what I will be painting onto the kennel? Anyone can bid for this creation at the event - my battle today this week will be stopping my dog from using it! 1d

alijart Sometimes random trips to the shop are for a reason. I happened to go into Kmart and found the last three geometric candle holders. So far I haven't seen them on any shelf - they have been sold out everywhere. Repurposed into succulent holders. 4d

alijart Finished! This is "Lily Days" a digital illustration that started as atelier/Matisse acrylics, polychromos pencils, art spectrum watercolours and lead pencil on paper. 6d

alijart Sometimes the only way we can heal is through time. Today I am meditating and painting lillies. 6d

alijart Sketching out flowers for background patterns and keeping my fingers busy whilst watching the finale of The Block. Trying to stay off the internet so no one reveals the end result before I watch it (the joys of living on the other side of the country!). Today I couldn't stop thinking about the stunning Lily, so those became my feature flower. 7d

alijart I am finding every spare minute to finish up my latest figure illustration. Currently at the dining table while the kids read books and play with dolls on the couch. I asked my husband for feedback when he got home from work.
Me = does she look human like? Does she look right? Because the original drawing was awful, just awful.
Husband = she looks like one of the best humans you've ever done, way better then some of your other ones.
Ha! Teaches me to ask for husband feedback.

alijart Why I am the best mum today. Improvised canvases after a new lounge delivery make the best creative space. 7d

alijart Playing, experimenting and trying different ideas. I've reached that frustrating point where I think my original illustration sketch looks terrible and have to decide whether to push on forward or scrap it. Or I can continue procrastinating and playing with shadows and shapes..... 1w

alijart Continuing the next image in the series I keep dreaming about. I intend to do at least six along the same theme - fashionable women with flora inspired backgrounds and bold colour choices. Having fun pushing myself out of my comfort zone. The hardest step is always the first - putting a mark on that white paper. The very, very white paper! 1w

alijart My to do list is complete and my blackboard has been brought to life! Caravan renovations finished. My daughter went back to daycare today for the first time in months, the other is at school. I have the next five hours of dedicated research time to prep for a number of new works. Yay! 1w

alijart What do you do on a Friday night when you can't sleep? I get out of bed and paint. My current project is doing a border for my project blackboard. Reminds me of the months I would spend at school doodling on all my pages, books and letters to all of my friends. (Which I have since discovered most of them have been kept by my friends.... How embarrassing!!) 2w

alijart After sorting through my paints and finding 3 or 4 of the same colour I realise why I never have funds for art supplies! Now al sorted by colour so I know what I have and can hopefully find them quicker. Before I had them all jammed into tubs. #paint #paintstorage #hooks #artist #artistpaints #artistpaint #caravanstorage #bamboopalm #pegboard #bunnings #diy 2w

alijart My studio has been cleaned out from top to bottom and refitted again. I added in custom shelving, altered inbuilt cupboards and have been painting my little heart out. Not to mention all the sorting so I have all my art supplies easily at my fingertips. At some point I will do a close up of my storage systems for my paint, paper and canvases. Never underestimate how long these things can last. I have art supplies here that are over 20 years old and still as good as the day I received them. And more information about my art studio- A few years ago I bought a horrible leaking dilapidated vintage viscount 1974 caravan on a whim as I was frustrated with having no space to work from inside my house that was kid proof. It has taken a lot of guts, time and passion, but I finally have a working space I am comfortable to lock myself away in. Plus it now has enough space inside I can work on multiple paintings at once, store stuff, and fill orders when they come through the shop. YAY. BTW - my studio has a name. This is the inside of Enid. 2w

alijart Some DIY holiday fun. The kids have helped me upgrade some of my studio decor to luxe versions. Super pleased, and only cost me a few dollars. #paint #luxe #diy #diypaint #gold 3w
