alexhonnold Being in the mountains always reminds me just how small we really are. And to me that means having as small an impact on the environment as possible. So it's exciting for me to see the Obama administration getting more serious about trying to reduce carbon pollution. Not that the Climate Action Plan is perfect, but at least it's a step in the right direction. I really think that the transition away from fossil fuel use will be one of the most important things happening during my life time - it's exciting to see any progress along that front. Photo by Austin Siadak of @tommycaldwell and me on the Fitz Traverse. #actonclimate 1mon
  •   mollyguill 1mon
  •   ghost_of_buffalo @alexhonnold you should look up permaculture so you can see our true potential 1mon
  •   nmtroutbum The Chinese don't care...neither does anyone who lives in America, if they drive. So all of this mumbo jumbo about footprints etc...all hypocrisy. The Earth will take its course as men have dictated. The ignorant and uneducated populate the Earth overwhelmingly, and theyre just trying to stay fed and alive, so do you really think they care? Ha ha. This is about politics, power and money. Period. Enjoy!!! 1mon
  •   whalestagramz Way to go Alex! Makes me proud to be a climber when I see our celebrities stand up for what matters. Thanks for taking a principled stance. Still is crazy to me that this is even a little controversial, so much education left to do. Keep it up! 1mon
  •   hk954 Go watch the glaciers 'melt' in the winter when their size builds back up. Pollution, is not good, but climate change, false propaganda that turns natural earth cycles into political manipulation. You're a talented climber though! 1mon
  •   alphasteve42 @hk954 mmmm. 2 things. Yes there are cycles but we are moving the wrong direction. Following the cyclic history we should be COOLING. Second, glaciers are most definitely dissapearing and not coming back. Ie in Glacier NP the number of glaciers has gone from 150 when the park opened to 25 now. 1mon

alexhonnold This spring the guys at @stridehealth took me on a climbing tour of San Francisco. It was a surprisingly fun day of urban scrambling which took us all over the city. They've released a short film about it which can be seen at the link in their profile. Fun times in the city!! 1mon

alexhonnold My grandmother passed away a couple days ago after 95 good years of life. Of course it's sad to see her go, and she will be missed, but her life was well lived. We all have a limited time here. I'm glad hers was filled with good times and family. I'm super grateful that I just happened to visit one last time. I guess it's just a reminder to live well. Thanks for the inspiration, grandma. 2mon

alexhonnold Yesterday @daveallfrey and I completed his quest to climb El Cap 7 times in 7 days. What a week it's been! We managed to set 4 new speed records, but we also had to get up at 4am each day to avoid the heat. A great adventure with a great partner. Now it's time to rest up a few days... 2mon

alexhonnold This is why I think we should #ActOnClimate. Yosemite!!! Bonus points for anyone who can guess the route we're on today. And extra bonus for anyone who can see the climbers over on the Nose. Yes, this is a #wallgram. 2mon

alexhonnold Spot the climber! One of the highlights of Taghia was this solo quest up Rouge Berber (500m 7b). Took over 2.5 hours to adventure up the wall. Photo by my friend Glyn Hudson who was on an adjacent route. 2mon

alexhonnold Onsighting the first ascent of the Widener. This route was a classic example of me sandbagging myself - "number 6 cam? Doubt I'll want one". The epically long, overhanging section of #6s to the top was definitely more exciting without gear... Whoops...
Thanks @celinserbo for the photo. Great fun on the Green River last year. #tbt

You were climbing in Yosemite. I work with the elderly and we were all so impressed with you. They made comments like " hes brave" and crazy. it was so cute watching them get so nervous watching you climb. haha just wanted to say youre awesome! 2d

alexhonnold The last 3 weeks have been an amazing whirlwind of towers, biking, and solar. It's been great to see the desert from a new perspective and really dive in deep. Thanks to @cedarwright for being a great climbing partner and giving me this photo collage. And thanks to @samuelcrossley and @liteprogear for documenting the process - I'm looking forward to seeing the final film someday. But mostly, a huge thanks to @goalzero, @clifbarcompany and @thenorthface for supporting both the climbing adventure and the nonprofit work. Really inspiring to help @elephantenergy with their work on Navajo lands. #navajosolar 4mon
