beafunmum I was at a friend's place today and she had this gorgeous silhouette candle (Air Wick brand) -- available at the supermarket. Pretty sweet. 16h

beafunmum Guess what they are doing? Nah, you don't have to guess, I'll tell you. I'm (extra) weary tonight so the kids are putting moisturising cream on my feet. They think it's fun (I mean, it almost counts as a sensory activity, right?!). I think it's awesome that I can be horizontal while they work and we can chat too. All kinds of win here. 4d
  •   katschultz This is just like how I made "hairdresser" a game at babysitting today. The girls brush and braid my hair while I rest my eyes. Best game ever 4d
  •   beafunmum @katschultz ha! Love it. We are clever cookies 4d

beafunmum There was a lot of inspiration in Dubai. I'm keeping this one in mind for my dream home: An outdoor shower on the deck. I like how seamless and functional this design is! #mydubai #dubaibloggerati
This was at the residences at @jumeirahzs

beafunmum My husband and I work in a different way. I like to do things as as I go, all adding up to the goal I have in my head. I can stay very flexible in the route I take to the finish line. He likes to do (and focus) on one complete thing, then another. And prefers to do things in a set order.
So in this case, he was focused on collapsing the loft bed (with cupboards underneath) so he got my daughter to empty the contents (on the floor). I would have put up packing boxes to both pack and sort the contents of each drawer -- all the while taking rubbish out -- and then collapsed the bed. I would see it all as the one job. However my husband was focused on the bed, and then would have dealt with the room later in a separate thought process.

Earlier in our marriage this would have driven me NUTS. But, as you do in relationships, you compromise. And you know what? It all ends up the same way: the job gets done. So in this case, I stepped in and helped my daughter pack and sort the piles on the floor (after my husband collapsed the bed). We didn't even designate the jobs - who would do what - but are both pitching in where we can during this busy time of year to get our family moved in the new year.
Certainly not the way I would have chosen to do it, but you know what? It worked quite well really because we could easily form clear piles (with everything). I have found that it can be easy to get stuck in these sorts of differences, but I see love as knowing, respecting and allowing for each other. I do it for him. He started this job early one morning when he let me sleep in, and I just rolled with the second part of the job. And he stays flexible when I'm the instigator of a particular job, and does task after task according to my schedule, knowing I have grand plans in my head. It works both ways and over the years we've come to work very well together because it comes down to love.

The job is done! And we feel a triumph of connection in the completion. Amongst the chaos, there's a happiness to that.

  •   lollerskaterau THIS is true love. Forget pumpkins and glass slippers. Knowing, understanding, respecting, and accepting your partner is a far more difficult and rewarding thing. X 5d
  •   mummysmiles Random q but what loft bed did you have?? 5d
  •   style_scouting_ Oh I hear on the different approaches, but the one goal ... and no longer letting it drive me nuts (well most of the time). Such a great story to share - real life, real love, real stuff. 5d

beafunmum Distracting myself from packing house by looking back through Dubai pics. I made a short video of the ground. It's amazing how much you can learn from a place by looking down. When I put the images together, I found it captured a lot about Dubai. The contrasts, the extremes, the interesting beauty. Oh, and the city was sooo clean. #mydubai #dubaibloggerati 6d

  •   em7emma Wow 6d
  •   style_scouting_ It's crazy how quickly 'stuff' builds up in just one bedroom. 6d
  •   hillme71 The best part is being in the new place and NOT putting all the crap back in. Huge cull before we moved it determined to not reintroduce it all hoping the kids forget what's in all the boxes. Bare minimum has been put into the house and so so tempting to just get rid off all the rest - kids may not share my minimalist leanings though 5d

beafunmum Can't go wrong with a black dress and pearls. #WhatIWore at dinner for my last night in Dubai. In the 27 minutes I had to get ready, I showered, washed my hair, dried my hair, straightened my hair (poorly), dressed and attempted a light smokey eye look. As you fellow mothers would understand, you can achieve a lot in 27 minutes when you're not interrupted (a million times). #mydubai #dubaibloggerati 1w
