beafunmum I rode to university today. It's about a half an hour. People who suffer from anxiety will understand that sometimes you have down patches where it's harder to overcome, & it's been like that for the past month. There are better days ahead. I know that. Interestingly, my teen reminded me of that because I tell her the same. One thing that certainly helps me is making sure I do enough exercise...& I haven't of late...so I'm trying to incorporate more into my day. This is my fav spot on the route so I'm stopping here for a moment. Now that I've done it once, I will do it again. Other things I do to help this pass:
- don't fight it. Just let the anxiety sit & be. Fighting it makes it last longer. It's okay not to be okay sometimes. There are better days ahead I say again.
- rest (& sleep if possible). I get terrible insomnia during this time so lack of sleep exacerbates the problem. I do rest when I can though because my body feel so heavy & it's exhausting to move sometimes. So if I'm home, every hr or so, I'll snuggle in my bed for 2 minutes (where I feel safe) & then move forward. - eat well. Again, this is something I struggle with during these times because planning goes into eating well, & planning (even though I can be a planning ninja) through a muddled brain is challenging. So I keep it very simple & fall back on staples.
- have a routine. It helps.
- be honest with those close to you. When I was doing homework with the kids last night, I lay on the ground while they worked beside me. I was so fatigued, the thought of helping with homework made me want to cry. Doing it from the floor felt more manageable. I said to the kids that I wasn't at my best right now. We say in our family, "I extend grace to you," or from the other side, "I need a little more grace right now," as a way to show love to each other when we are doing it tough (after a bad day; particular time of month etc.) so it's a normal concept. - be present: right now I'm listening to trees creak & watching random pine cones fall
- have perspective: I'm an efficient & driven person who can achieve a lot. But when I'm like this, it's disheartening to lose those parts of myself...cont in comments

  •   deetomri So beautifully said. I love the part about grace and laying on the floor during homework time. I feel the same way-a lot! Thank you for sharing 1w
  •   jokoepke Thanks for sharing Kelly! Better days are definitely ahead. That spot looks like it would be a favourite for me too. Another avenue that has helped some people close to me has been investigating a vitamin/mineral deficiency and/or food intolerances. I love those phrases about extending grace. Think I'll start using those in my family. 1w
  •   claireis Best wishes, hoping those better days ahead are just around the corner. 1w

beafunmum One fun run down, and I'm looking forward to doing the next one (entry was gifted) here in my lovely home town of #Brisbane. @cityrunseries #City2South is happening 5 June so I need to step up my training again! Been a bit slack with running this week. It's getting cooler so harder to get out there in the evenings when I usually run. City2South.com.au #kelly_runs 2w

beafunmum Fresh colours on the braces for Pip. 3w
  •   beafunmum @jacskellie she's 12 going on 13. She too was recommended when she was 8, to do the option of braces for correction and then again later at this stage (because teeth shift so much at that age). Or we had the option to just wait until now. We ended up just deciding to wait and do it all at once and am glad we did. They were a bit worried about damage to the teeth because of where the issue was...so I guess there was a bit of risk in waiting but we felt it was the best option and I'm glad we waited. I guess it really depends on each individual situation tho. 3w
  •   jacskellie @beafunmum thank you :) im sure it's very individual it just took me by suprise how early it came up. Thanks for answering 3w
