4q69 In 9th grade I got round kicked in the stomach by a 12th grade guy named VJ... I had a $2 bean burrito in my hand and was quietly walking to eat lunch. He muttered the words "skater fag" as I gathered my stuff and walked away. He was a mediocre athlete that loved coors light and dipping. He went on in life to almost killing someone drunk driving, then to cleaning toilets at the local baseball batting cages. Being a "skateboard fag" took me all over the world, introduced me to amazing friends, art, music, and culture. @realskateboards re issued this old board of mine and I dedicate it to VJ. #4qconditioning #realskateboards 1d

4q69 Nyc 2010 with Chris and Ken. Seeing the 21 days movie definitely made me think about our Motorcyle journey to NY. I think it's nearly impossible to capture, on film or in writing. It's tests you, it tests your friendship and your character. For better or worse. Gives your old bike quite a test as well. We were pretty clueless when we left, some tools, a tent, a gas can, and a change of socks and underwear. I'd been inspired by the Chicago guys who had rode to born free and back. Initially we had just planned a ride one way to New York figuring we and our bikes would be burnt, upon arrival we almost instantly wanted to turn around. We'd been moving for so many days that it was almost hard to sit still in one place. So we headed back west. 7000 miles after when your sitting your sore ass at home, you kind of want to do it all again. I think if you ask each one of us you'd get three completely different stories. I guess that's the way it should be. It's a total personal trip. A lot of time inside the mind. I had this thought..... The road is the blank page, your bike is the pen, and you are the hand that pushes them together to create the story. It's yours to get. Enjoy.

  •   drupp13 Max did you guys blast through Kansas that summer? The reason I ask is because I'm pretty sure the dude on the far left came to our shop to get a tube. 1w
  •   4q69 @drupp13 that's makes sense man. We did 1w
  •   drupp13 Dam! I thought so. I know this sounds weird but if you guys ever blast through Kansas and need anything let me know. 7d
  •   kevinteachbaas @4q69 ya man so many of us have ridden across country on old bikes and seeing that movie made me remember the many days of memories I have shared with good people doing similar. Its too bad a lot of that will be lost in our memories as life takes us out of the picture. 6d

4q69 Years ago doing the coffin with the Gonz and the Huf. That's pretty amazing company to butt bomb a hill with. Re-found this Steinbeck quote today.... A kind of second childhood falls on so many men. They trade their violence for the promise of a small increase of life span. In effect, the head of the house becomes the youngest child. And I have searched myself for this possibility with a kind of horror. For I have always lived violently, drunk hugely, eaten too much or not at all, slept around the clock or missed two nights of sleeping, worked too hard and too long in glory, or slobbed for a time in utter laziness. I've lifted, pulled, chopped, climbed, made love with joy and taken my hangovers as a consequence, not as a punishment. I did not want to surrender fierceness for a small gain in yardage" #4qconditioning #steinbeck -make your own life rather than purchasing others - 1mon

4q69 Happy Sunday Night. Finally got this Panhead motor shoehorned into this knuckle frame and got the stance I've been looking for. Notched and plated the seat post tube and above the rear pan. De raked bull neck frame and cutting and scooting a few things around to tighten up wheel base. Next attack tank, oil bag and fender. Hitting the #bf8 bike hard now. Thanks to @bornuponthetide for loaning me the mock-up motor while mines coming together. @bornfreeshow #4q #vespa 2mon

4q69 Before my worlds collided, they collided. Manifest destiny. Scientists say an asteroid missed destroying our planet recently. I pulled apart a Panhead motor today that I think the asteroid hit. Photo or stopped video of Gonz over Myself back in 1896. Might head south this week and try to get pitted. Lefts needed. #4q #markgonzales #pointbreak 2mon

4q69 Side A & Side B. 1949 Panhead in later wishbone frame. The word build has gotten pretty loose these days, but this thing was a pile of parts at one point with no predetermined look. I laced the wheels first, put rubber on them and set them next to the frame which sat on a wood block and go from there. I like to sit on a milk crate and stare, and move shit around. Playing with various tanks and fenders..... Maybe the tank needs narrowed maybe a fender needs tweaked or radius-ed. Hopefully things start to take shape. But it's the idea of the bike that is so hard sometimes..., if it will be a complete thought at the end. Dealing with the belief that it should compliment the person you built it for and compliment your style of build. Let's face it, the guy that's super good at craigslist can get 10times the attention of the guy that was up till 3am metal finishing his welds. That's where it's at and if you enjoy what you do, it doesn't really matter. I'm inspired by people like @jason_atr @wretched_hive @kingkustoms to name a few (there's a hundred more) that seem to find a balance between tradition and creativity. Not too cookie cutter bolt on VS. space shuttle Columbia. I like kill em all much more than load. This bike was for a physically big man, no mids, no tiny little chopper, that alone made me have to really think it through. In the end it makes sense to me. This motor was my friend @samsklub brothers (rip) who passed years ago and I ended up with it, holding onto it for a decade trying to pay its legacy due respect. Sam said when he was a very young kid his big brother would throw them on the back with his skateboard and jam through the city streets dropping him off to skate EMB. Hope this bike stays a alive, and gets to write a few stories. Sorry for the novel. #4q #4Qpaint 2mon

You can send this write up in the email too. Make sure to mention that it's for garage. Thanks man. This is awesome!! I hope to hear from you!! 1mon

4q69 Thanks to Portland for always providing a good time. Finished this Panhead for a buddy up north and got to hangout with good friends and beautiful bikes. Sometimes inspiration comes in waves and you just have to take the ride and wait for the right time. Feeling good right now. Thanks for keeping us fed @woodsmantavern that was delicious. @forgash_unofficial for a place to crash as well as having linkerts to suck fuel out of. @dzwicker and @mediocre_mon for everything. Thanks to people that said nice things about this bike and asked about the paint. @boylecustommoto really appreciate you coming through with the bitchen little air cleaner @lowbrowcustoms for the grips and tank blanks so I can start on #bf8 bike. #4Qpaint #4q time to sleep for 3 days 3mon

4q69 Paint for a Pan I'm building to take to the @the1moto show. Blues on black hugged by gold. Assembling the bike now, excited to see it all take shape. Months of work, sometimes the pipes take me a week to get right....or wrong and start over. Stay tuned. tuna. Toro. Oh by the way if anyone's driving from sandiego up this way in the next couple days..... I need something transported that's almost identical to a surfboard. 4q69 “Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will” – George Bernard Shaw-. Delivered @brad0667 his stroked 84" Panhead. Everything got massaged a bit on this bike, but it still has a classic outline. Dark indigo blue paint with a blue powder pearl on top. It's short and stout and almost has a slightly British look from the side. Blah. #4q #crass 4mon

4q69 Found this photo from what feels like a life time ago and yesterday all in one. Built this bike in the end of 03 when it felt like there was only a dozen of us not putting jack Daniels shift knobs and wide tires on our bikes..... Not that there's anything wrong with that but, you know. So many people complaining about shit these days, the worlds changed a lot. It's shrinking. It's gimme gimmie gimmie. Now. Insta-nt. Throw your phone in the toilet or cry to your bartender, or just shut up and be happy for all you have. Creativity was easier before, with out all the influx of info and comparisons. But like skating or art or music....it's gets corny, white washed and lame at times..... But it's what you make of it. If you don't like it try standup paddle boarding or maybe the unicycle, no ones forcing you to be here. This is dumb, sorry. But I loved my old garage and those days. Looking forward to more like that. #4q #promotionalhashtags @dutchmanphotos photo 4mon

4q69 Happy New Year. My little Bro is going to be completely dismantled and reborn for #bf8 chopper show, thankfully I was chosen as an invited builder. I love this bike because it's been good to me and once in Yellowstone a buffalo tried to kill me and this bike and I had a religious experience avoiding what would have been a horrible accident. Many thousand smiles later I love it but hate it too. Looking at it outside of a bar I don't get a boner, and I wish I did. So without the second guessing that comes along with building a bike for a customer I've decided to rebuild this bike exactly the way I'd like to see it. Thanks for the invite mike and grant. @bornfreeshow
Let's see how it all goes. Advice for the new year. Enjoy your life. Challenge yourself. Drink more water. If you're not from the south stop saying Ya'll. No one ever needs to lock it up for a photo again. Positivity 2016.... Haha #4q

4q69 I got to #BSwithTG a little while back. I first saw Tommy Guerrero skate when I was about 12yrs old at the hunters point dish. I told my friends he could "ollie over a car" . The days when you rarely got to see a pro skater skate in the wild and not at a contest. I was blown away. Speed and style. So when him and @jimthiebaud sat me down to do this BS thing.... I tired to play it cool once again, just like the day they asked me to skate for @realskateboards Over 20 yrs ago. We all been through so much, happy to know these guys. Friends and family. Follow the link @realskateboards. Thanks dudes. #4q 5mon
